Wasn't Hutch attempting the record on the same equipment as the previous record holder?
That is not what I said though is it. Bottrill wanted to attempt the same thing Jens did last night which as you can clearly see allows a totally different bike to what Hutch was attempting, but was not allowed to due not being part of the bio passport, which was not clear in the rules. Bottrill would have easily broken the record and gone further than Jens, but I can see the UCI would not have gone for that as a headline. Grandfondo said:
All I said was that Hutch thought he could beat the record and you were answering me that equipment came into it,which it didn't !
You're so tedious. In 2014 the UCI unified the two classifications into a single classification in line with regulations for current track pursuit bikes. Records previously removed for Chris Boardman and Graeme Obree would be returned, however the current record would remain at 49.700 km set in 2005 by Ondrej Sosenka, even though that is not the farthest distance.[3][4] Under the new regulations riders may use any bike allowed by the UCI standards for endurance track events in place at the time of the attempt.[5][citation needed] Riders are required to be part of the Athlete Biological Passport Program.[6]
Following the change in the rules, German Jens Voigt became the first rider to attempt the hour, on 18 September 2014 at the Velodrome Suisse, Grenchen, Switzerland.[7][8] He set a new record of 51.115 km, beating the previous record set by Sosenka by 1.4 km.

But what has that to do with Hutch failing to beat the record on similar equipment?
Yes, its all that seems to help you out, as you seem a bit slow...
I didn't mention Hutch, you did?
Anyway, Bottrill was preparing and attempt, did extensive testing on the track, knows his CdA, knows his watts, and his coach knows how far he would have done. Ergo he would have broken the record, his coach has accurately predicted his times for the last few big events to the nearest few seconds, no reason he would not be right here given its a controlled environment.
For all others, here is grandfondo in a previous life - gold http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Cool, so you were wrong again, nothing new there though, keep at it though, you'll get there at some point I'd imagine.
Back on topic, Dowsett needs to be quick if he wants his name up there for any length of time I would think? Can't see him beating on of the big names at this sort of thing?

I must have read his book wrongly then because I thought he failed in his attempt! Back on topic, Dowsett needs to be quick if he wants his name up there for any length of time I would think? Can't see him beating on of the big names at this sort of thing?
Was talking to a mate and we put together a list of over 20 guys who we think could beat Voigt's mark - TTers like Martin, Dowsett, Uran, Froome, Malori or Wiggo, break specialists like Boonen, Bauer, Bakelandts, Gerrans, Kwiato, etc. For a pro road rider an hour at threshold isn't that unusual after all.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dowsett had a bash at some point over the winter, even unofficially; if you had access to track equipment (uk Sport pursuit bikes...) you'd give it a go one day just to see, wouldn't you?

Team TT for trade teams, everything else for countries. Very strange.
Anyone know if TTT is on tv tomorrow? Cant find it anywhere.

Pretty sure we could hire the track at Newport and use their bikes if we all clubbed in. Not sure how we go about counting laps (bring a very forgiving partner?!?!), smash in the clenbuterol and then into town for a curry afterwards?!I wouldn't be surprised if Dowsett had a bash at some point over the winter, even unofficially; if you had access to track equipment (uk Sport pursuit bikes...) you'd give it a go one day just to see, wouldn't you?

There's a couple of live streams for it, Rai 2 is carrying it but you need to fake an Italian ip addy. There is a usa stream as well which is mentioned on Velociosports facebook page.Anyone know if TTT is on tv tomorrow? Cant find it anywhere.

Martin barely beat Canc the other week, I reckon Wiggins could pull it off this year.
True, but fab is also in good form so that's not too bad. I think the course suits Wiggins though, so has a slight advantage there. I would expect it to be closely contested between these two.
