Clearly these particuar Astana guys are sticking with the old-school doping practices and not getting with the times.
I think its the sort of genius plan that only the likes of Vino could conjure up..... load up your domestiques with EPO, let them smash the peloton to bits before they reach the mountains and then leave it to your GC man (who is clean) to take the victory.... bwahzx hazx hazx hazx.... (as they say in Kazakhstan)

Great result today for Dan Martin in the tour of Lombardy.

Did anyone see the graph of climbing speeds in the grand tours of Horner Nibali Froome and Contador?
I can't find where I saw it but it made interesting stats?

I don't profess to be an expert in the numbers game but I would say that they are venturing into the realms of barely believable. He's also a grand tour winner who can't find a team at the moment...

I would love to think that cycling has moved on from the bad old days but to be honest I just think avoiding being caught has moved on! frown

Great win by Dan Martin yesterday, He finished the season well after an awful start. It's also a fitting end to Garmin-Sharp.

I would have liked valverde to have won yesterday's race, he's been so close this season to many major wins. I can't fault the man's desire to win everything - I like his work ethic smile

Also worth mentioning that it was Cadel Evans last major race. Hats off to that man he's had a good career and it's been great watching him race over the years. I'm sure he'll be back helping to run one of the pro teams.

Was also surprised to see kwiatkowski 'lock up' so bad.. must have been extremely painful for that to happen.

Great result for Dan Martin finally winning in Lombardy.

Farewell to Cade Evans. What a great rider. Even in his final year he was right up there amongst the top guys. Hope he has a long and happy retirement.

Seriously? Another un-repentant Spanish doper. Not much to admire there from my perspective.

Personally I am always a bit pleased when he fails to win something.

I know he is an ex-doper etc and therefore will always divide opinion. I quite like him though - he's always up for a fight Valverde and I enjoy watching him race.

6 times on the podium at the worlds for him - I thought this year was his time. He seems upbeat even when he loses that's not a bad thing smile considering how many times he gets squeezed out the top spot.

Could someone please tell me what the difference is between dopers that have served their bans but have cried some crocodile tears and the ones that have obeyed the omertà?

In my mind they both should have been banned for life but they haven't so they should be treated the same when they win or lose.

I don't see that there is such a big difference, they are all the keepers of omertà because doping is so rife, cycling is a sport based on deep long standing traditions and not 'spitting in the soup' is a fundamental. Look at the people who have been brave enough to raise their heads above the parapet in the past - Gilles Delion, Kimmage and Christophe Bassons. Vilified and mostly driven from the sport. No a doper is a doper, whether it is an unrepentant one like Valverde or the cry baby type like Miller.

Considering the clear move a couple of decades ago for doping to become controlled/facilitated by the teams, I can't help but feel that if a threshold of riders from a specific team (say 2) is reached a full on investigation into the team is conducted.

Happens in many other areas - a couple of coincidences leads to a closer look at a wider scope.

Very disappointing these things happen at the end of the season - makes the whole year become suspect when you think of certain results.

Right guys, let's keep this VERY SIMPLE.

If anyone posts a claim, directly or implied, regarding any cyclist using drugs, without any formal, documented verified proof, will be banned from PH. Simple as that, without hesitation.

End of discussion, as there is no discussion to be had.

To be honest, its not a bad thing. You cant have a discussion about professional cycling here without people talking nonsense about doping, lifetime bans etc
