In a cyclocross race it's maximum effort from the start line for a minute or two to establish a position, which you will hopefully maintain for the rest of the race. If you have a motor giving you even 5% that could be enough to put you into a race winning position.

So anything that could be hidden in a regular size frame tube is probably not going to offer anything like the power of the bike above. Is a 5% energy saving likely? Is that actually enough to make a difference?
Reports suggest 100-200 W extra, which is a huge amount. At threshold I'd be able to keep up with Cancellara/Wiggins etc with that additional power.

For those of us who have been following cycling for a while, news yesterday that ex-commentator David Duffield has died. I found his commentary annoying but he was definitely part of my introduction to cycling.

I learned far more about food and wine from David Duffield than I ever did about Cycling. Very sad news a lovely nutter of a man.

Ah yeah that's really quite sad, but I do share everyone's frustration at his commentary. Pivotal moment in the race, attack goes up the road, and Dave is still talking about last night's hotel accommodation and meal, and......

if you ever met anyone who rode a trike or even worse raced one you would understand Duffers completely bonkers.

like I said nutter. you needed a big set of balls to ride one of those things back in the day the amount of abuse they got everywhere they went was intense.

Tour of Britain route announced: One near me again, so will be taking a day off, having a ride with mates, then seeing the peloton blast up some local hills. Goodbye the KOMs... again.

Excellent! ToB stage finish in Bath and then a time trial and city circuit race in Bristol. Lots of spectating opportunities!

Indeed - the Southwest has done well out of this two years in a row. The circuit especially will be good - multiple opportunities to see the riders, unlike an open stage where you've got to be a bit of a fan to wait for such a short burst of activity.

Two brilliant races this weekend, two deserving winners and a great performance from Luke Rowe in both, I can see why Sir Dave rates him so highly.

Apparently BW Cycling did a recce of the Bristol ToB circuit on Saturday AM, they did four laps (the pros are doing five) at a steady pace and they came back saying it was tough...

Great to see GvA take Omloop and a really good break away win for Stuyven at KBK.

Strade Bianche - what a finish. Phew!

Ah, and a quick shout out to Scott Thwaites for an awesome mid week result in the GP Le Samyn, taking a gutsy second just behind Niki Terpstra.

felt for the Italian guy but that finish was brutal too much even for Sagan

Watched the women's race earlier and then the men's. Track cycling has been great too.
