The behaviour of the fans so far this year has been disgraceful. It has been bad the last few years though too be honest.

Getting close to watch is one thing but the level of interference is getting ridiculous now.

I’m actually waiting for someone to literally push one of the sky riders off.

I can’t think of another sport where at some of the hardest moments in race you’ve got that level of interference and potential for crowds to affect the action.

I like France and the French but these ‘fans’ coming along are projecting themselves as clueless, un-informed idiots. Really doesn’t look good on tv for the race.

Can’t help but think SKY as sponsors will be thinking this isn’t quite the image they wanted out of this either.

The French still have a problem with a Frenchman not winning the TDF they think they have a divine right and the media like to stir the st just like they did when Eddy Merckx was a cert to win his 6th TDF and a fan decided to punch him in the ribs.
Froome has had this treatment for a number of years its just escalated since the recent case.

The old farmers always have a pop at the TDF.

First time I've heard of the pepper spray issue though.

Farmers protested. French police hit the with pepper spray. Pepper spray blew over the road and riders rode through it.

Nothing to do with fans. Nothing to do with Team Sky.

Stand down.

A noteworthy moment on the route today - it passed the spot where Fabio Casartelli had his fatal crash in Le Tour 1995

Was just going to say that.

Very lucky.

Yes, that made me wince. Glad he was back up and racing quickly

Looks like the bunch are having a 2nd rest day today... ahead of the monster stage tomorrow.

Gilbert took a tumble over a wall and looked like footballer diving it was that dramatic. The difference was he got his bruised and battered body back over the wall and on his bike what a man.
These last few stages have been like a phoney war with not much happening and despite all the hype I am not sure who from the contenders is going to attack tomorrow for fear of losing their podium place.

Tomorrow's stage looks like it could be mental. Only 65km long, they'll be almost sprinting up that last little hill to the finish.

Someone's surely going to go for it

I'm intrigued by the grid start.

Short it may be, but I think it's savage and I don't think there'll be many folk sprinting anywhere!

The grid start is, surely, just a novelty. Does anyone really think that teams will not get together as early as possible (i.e. within about 1km) after the start?

That last little hill which is a super category climb and the highest summit in this years tour? hehe

Thomas reckoned 2 and 1/2 hours climbing. I think today is the day that the Tour winner is found - either Thomas can mark everybody and keep his time gap or Froome can make something stick. I don't see Dumoulin making any real time gaps today and I don't see him making enough time in the TT to win this race.

I heard Geraint Thomas saying it will be interesting ride at Threashold for 2-2.5 hours.

Will be sneaking a view on SkyGo in the office.

Froome will be given the opportunity IMO. I don't know how they manage to do that without burning up all the support and leaving G isolated. A lot depends on whether Froome's form has improved as clearly he didn't have the legs on the Alp.

I would expect they'll ride as a team until the final climb then we'll see if there are any fireworks.

If Froome has the legs, he'll surely go for it.

Just looking at the stage profile... the final climb is a monster... 16km at an average of 8.7%. Plenty of really steep bits, including the last KM to the finish.
