G is listed on the Ineos team for Vuelta, according to this site:

No Bernal
I am not sure if that was always his plan or hes going for that after not getting the TdF.

I thought the giro would be epic but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations, la vuelta could be the grand tour I was hoping for in May... Latour, Majka, another packed Movistar team, big guns from Lotto Jumbo... it certainly has potential https://www.cyclingstage.com/vuelta-2019/riders-sp...

Well the Vuelta is underway and I am hoping for a good GC battle. The team time trial was interesting and who have thought a burst paddling pool would affect the end result seems to have been quite a few incidents including Aru who had some nasty road rash..
Roglic seems to be the favourite but there is also Quintana with something to prove. NQ looked strong and full of intent yesterday and took the stage. I would like to seem him carry this form through the Vuelta and battle the other GC contenders.
One thing I noticed there is a seriously strong Colombian contingent - seem to be churning out a load of top quality riders

Quintana, when he’s on form, is a joy to watch.

Interesting but how reliable that information is I don't know - doesn't sound great though! In other news kruijswijk had to abandon. A real shame that as he was up there with the very best. Also stage 5 today finishes with a beast of a climb we can see who the real GC conteders are early on I guess.

Agreed.
Now, the result today. A second tier team. 1-2 with a massive fight back up a mountain for the winner.
Alarm bells are ringing, willy.
Both from a team that has already been suspended in the last 12 months for their positive tests last year. But the Vuelta organisers still saw fit to invite them back as a wildcard...Now, the result today. A second tier team. 1-2 with a massive fight back up a mountain for the winner.

I dont follow pro continental cycling at all and only really bother to sit down and watch the grand tours or odd 1 day. So I was scratching my head wondering who the fk this pair were storming up the mountain and where were the usual names. This was the first GC test and they were lagging . Seemed very odd to me.
To be fair, they were both in the breakaway all day, were already way down on GC and were allowed to be that far ahead by the peloton who were content to let them go and fight out the stage win - not uncommon at all really when the GC boys have 2 weeks or more tough racing to come. They didn't really storm up the final climb, they started it with more than 10 minutes lead over the peloton and Lopez had pulled back over 9 minutes of that by the time they reached the top. What was surprising to me was Madrazo had been in breaks constantly already during the week, struggled on the 3rd cat climb halfway through the stage, kept getting dropped all the way up the final climb and then made his way back to win. Its the latest in a long list of unknown or relatively unknown Spanish riders performing out of their skin in the Vuelta. Then when you consider the recent history of his team...
