Cav's biggest obstacle is going to be getting to the TdF in the first place. Patrick Lefevere has made it clear that he won't take two sprinters and Jackobsen has also had a strong start to the season. I really hope that Cavendish gets the spot, but I don't expect him to.
This is exactly what I have read elsewhere - although Lefevere was also quoted as saying something along the lines of 'we will have to wait and see' when put on the spot re his Sprinter!I recently listened to an interview with LeFevere on The Cycling Podcast.
I think his press persona is quite different to that evident in the on-to-one interview.
He’s pretty passionate about cycling and wanting his team to be the best….
Any decision that is made between Cav and Jakobson will be free from emotion I think, and purely down to what suits the team in terms of success when picking the personnel for the Tour.
The same interview series features Dave Brailsford, Jonathan Vaughters and Matt White. Some quite different personalities there….

What impressed me was he got the gap in a gravel descent - and just kept extending the gap; he has great confidence in attacking on a loose surface, which many may not.
Would love to see what he could do in a MTB XC World Cup - I think he'd be pretty competitive at somewhere like Albstadt.

Watching the Paris Nice time trial now. Apparently a team car following a rider has an aerodynamic effect on the rider in front of them. To the extent that Ineos Grenadiers are trying to get the car as close as possible to the rider and have 5 bikes on the roof to increase the effect.
Or did I completely misunderstand that?

I do know that two st hire cars in Spain would do 89 mph with touching bumpers, but only 86mph on their own. Marginal gains...Or did I completely misunderstand that?

Yep, works the same in 2 up and team time trials. Or did I completely misunderstand that?

Just saw the news that Richard Moore from the cycling podcast has died.
I love listening to their daily shows from the grand tours - won't be the same without him.
Not even 50 - so terribly sad.

I’ve been an avid TCP since 2018, their Grand Tour coverage is fantastic as are the spin-off series and the Friends episodes.
Richard had an eloquent way of asking the difficult questions and came across as an affable guy rather than your “text book” journalist.
Sad loss especially at such a young age.
