Good to see Jumbo do the right thing today. Kuss just needs to stay upright until Madrid now.
I think he’ll be my favourite grand tour winner in recent memory. A thoroughly decent chap and a very worthy winner.
I couldn't disagree more, 3rd best cyclist in his team wins, because the 2 better ones are told to let him win.I think he’ll be my favourite grand tour winner in recent memory. A thoroughly decent chap and a very worthy winner.
Yes it's a nice reward for him for all the work he had done for others, but he is not a worthy winner he is being allowed to win.

Anyway, for some of us the important question is "Quest TV presenter in party gear - good or bad idea?"
I quite looked forward to seeing the clothes each evening. And last night full hair-do, make-up and heels. Quite fun.
Orla Chennaoui, by the way.

Quite tiresome. Give me the TdF style presentation - and presenters - any day. I quite looked forward to seeing the clothes each evening. And last night full hair-do, make-up and heels. Quite fun.

Orla is a presenter on The Cycling Podcast / TCP Feminin, and whilst I’m not a fan of her presenting style, she has received a lot of online abuse regarding her dress-sense on TV.I quite looked forward to seeing the clothes each evening. And last night full hair-do, make-up and heels. Quite fun.
Orla Chennaoui, by the way.
She is knowledgeable regarding the sport, so there because of that rather than her ability to put an outfit together…

I don't follow cycling much (at all, really) but I'm aware of how the last one ended for him so I'm pleased to see he'll be back to give it one last go. I'm in two minds about Cav having yet another go at the Tour.
On one hand, if he retired now he'd provide years of cycling bore discussion about would he/wouldn't he have won more stages if he hadn't crashed out.
On the other hand, by this time next year he'll either have won again or shown that he should have retired on a high earlier.
On balance I think he should have left us all wondering about what could have been.

It's the nature of a sport like cycling that there are some days that are so riveting you wonder how on earth they manage to get it down to an hour's highlights, but others which really are like watching paint dry, and whilst I'm sure the Eurosport presenters are just as knowledgeable about the sport as the ITV guys, the latter's production team seem to excel at those entertaining little segments about the science of paint drying in a way that keeps the whole thing far more entertaining.
I do also wonder to what extent the entertainment factor of TV coverage compared to the TdF is down to the background material they're given by the tour organisers. I went digging to find out about this a few years ago after watching a day where the tour passed through a town near where my parents lived and realising that the description of a local bridge was lifted verbatim from the English language script used by the local tourist train thing.
It turns out that the tour organisers give the commentary teams an incredibly complete route bible telling them all about the local architecture and history mile by mile along each stage, so on a good day you're getting to watch a really captivating day of cycling highlights whilst on a transition day or particularly dull sprint stage where the action only happens in the last couple of kms, you get an entertaining travel show highlighting the beauty of the French countryside.
Having said that, Orla's outfits did leave me wondering whether either Eurosport couldn't afford a wardrobe department or they had multiple people in it playing a kerplunk style game of jeopardy where they took it in turns to see how mad an outfit they could get her in without her pushing back!
