Thinking of taking two kids under 11 to the PDC Premier League, am I being stupid? It can't be any worse than footie?
Great work from Smith tonight but I can't see past MVG for a walkover.
There's kids there when I go, wouldn't say there's a problem. Security are very very visible should anything happen (although I have been to the darts many times and not seen anything which is impressive for 1000s of drunk people)Great work from Smith tonight but I can't see past MVG for a walkover.

i wouldnt take kids, it can be an unpleasant environment with the amount of p*ssheads, and some of the stuff being chanted, although i haven't been for 5 or so years since darts ate itself and morons just go to appear on tv.i lament for the old days of the circus tavern when you could actually see the board (a bit) rather than the awfulness of ally pally (been 3 times since it moved till we couldn't face it anymore). totally pointless going to ally pally, most of the people havent a clue about darts, and are there to be on tv as its now become fashionable to go to the darts.
the winter gardens at blackpool are ok, and the reebok stadium for the uk open used to be good too when it was there, but the game itself is boring now.
there used to be a highish level group of players who could be relied upon and who had a character they had built up over a few years (think Manley era), with a subset a bit below who could cause upsets (your wes newtons, denis ovens etc). nowadays total randoms come from knowwhere and do well (which in a way is good, but as a fairweather follower, bad as you have no idea who these blokes are). yes taylor dominated like mvg now is, but there could be a bit of needle in it then (manley, painter etc) not just wade with his mental issues.
my theory and probably BS is that the increased cover and thus prizemoney of it has led to lots of joe sixpacks and eddie punchclocks tired of there routine jobs, deciding to practice for hours on end and see if they can make it. there is some inherent skill involved in darts, but i think if you have the time and patience and dedication (which is a skill in itself) to practise long enough you can make up a lot of lacking that inherent skill and get to a high standard. this would explain all these randoms coming from nowhere and doing well.
fair play to them and good luck, but it does nothing for the fairweather fan who hasn't a scooby whos who anymore, imo.
