We got off to a flier, 100 in around 10 overs, but credit to Scotland for not giving up

Yes. Very well played. I bet Root is going to give Alex Hales a total bking - he should have stood his ground and let Hales take the consequences. That and poor shot selection from the skipper and others, but I can't take anything away from Scotland, that was top drawer.

Just a great game of cricket. So pleased for everyone at the Grange. So often blighted by bad weather - couldn’t have been better today.

Credit to Scotland but such poor cricket from England at times, what was Moeen thinking? And Hayles, jeez, we see him a bit as we're walking distance from Trent Bridge, he seems to have talent but no brain at all, bad decision making AGAIN.

Not so sure Rashid covered himself in glory there either. They needed less than a run a ball when he was run out, just knock it for a single and keep the scorebaord ticking over.

Great throw to the stumps from Leask but they should have stuck with one run and moved on.

Good warm up for Australia. It should have knocked any complacency out of England. I reckon they’ll now be better mentally prepared and realize they need to fight hard for everything.

Amazing win by Scotland the highest achievement in their cricket history. Sad though that the ICC changes to the World Cup mean they won’t even be in the next one.

I went to the grange years ago, it’s like a school playing field. Scotland were playing Australia A, the players were basically sitting in the crowd. Many of the Scotland team were teachers and work in banks etc. Perhaps now they’re all professionals?

What's the story here then? I knew they'd just missed out on 2019 because of a poor decision and Duckworth Lewis but do you mean they can't enter 2020?

The ICC have shrunk the tournament down to ten teams to streamline the competition. There's a lot of pressure now to grow the tournament back up again and give the smaller countries more of a fair crack of the whip though.

I think that would be a wise move, how else will countries like Scotland ever get to improve unless they play top ( hehe ) opposition.

"This should be routine for England" declare the TMS commentators as they walk out to bat...

Roy bowled second ball for 0
Hales lbw for 5

Ah, that old routine...
