Played my first evening 20/20 affair last night, a beautiful evening to play. Not been at the crease for 5 years and it showed!

Kept it solid for first few balls at which point the bowler declared all the fielders could come in because "we don't need anyone on the boundary for this guy".

So it was quite nice next ball to plant him Viv Richards style 20 yards over the long-off boundary smile.

Unfortunately I got giddy on that and next over was done coming down the pitch....enjoyable all the same and good to be playing again.

Low scoring 2nd XI game on Saturday, played on a minefield until a heavy rain shower at the start of their innings slicked it up and BOOM! batting was easy... Tough game to play in an English summer.

We had a rather good game on Saturday.
Brilliant wicket and one of the best I’ve played on for a long time.
Posted 267/6 off 36 overs (I went in at 4, popped 35 runs off 18 balls..) and skittled them out for 118.

Should have played Sunday too but it pissed it down all day.

Made a late decision to go to the Blast quarter final at Taunton on Saturday with my lads, boy, glad I did.

First ten overs, Somerset were ticking over nicely at 80-2 off 9 overs (I think) then Banton, Rossouw and Lammonby started seriously teeing off. Rossouw took 34 (+2 noballs) off Matt McKiernan's final over, it was brutal. Fantastic to watch at close quarters and yes, I do know the ground is small and the boundaries are short but most of his sixes would have been sixes at all other grounds. Somerset scored 185 runs off the final 11 overs, it was unbelievable stuff, highest ever T20 score in England.

Felt sorry for Derby in the end, 74 all out. Peter Siddle has been a great addition as overseas playter alongside Rossouw this season. My youngest is going to Finals day this Saturday, just hope we can go all the way and not fall short at the final fence.

I echo that, hemidom (watched it on TV as I couldn't be there in person). As a Hampshire Hawks supporter I didn't think our 152 would be enough. To contain Lancashire, who've been outstanding in the competition this year, was amazing.

Of course, I went bananas at the final ball, only for my son to say "Dad, why is the umpire still stood there holding his arm out?" But it ended well and I'm delighted for the players, fans and staff - especially James Vince who is a bit of a hero in my eyes.

Very few I’d wager. It’s a ghastly gimmick

As a Hampshire fan, that was a very stressful day, and an unexpected yet very pleasurable result.

We never looked like winning the Final, we were out of it after the Powerplay, and Lancashire managed to let us get back in.

Huge credit to James Vince, he's really matured as a skipper, Liam Dawson never leaves anything on the pitch, he's always reliable, and I'd happily re-sign our two overseas players for next year, even if they are Australians - they were both superb in the Final, Nathan Ellis in particular. Having to re-bowl that last ball with only a single run margin must have been unbelievably stressful, and to use a slower delivery was brave in the circumstances.

A well-deserved win. But just once, I'd like to see Hampshire win the T20 Blast Final comfortably. I'm not getting any younger.

Funny how it goes in cricket though, the wicket of Vilas seemed to give Hampshire belief and the direct hit to dismiss Wells was superb. Can imagine how yourself and Brave Fart were feeling for that final ball (twice!).

Whilst I agree on Vince as a Sussex fan I'm sick of the sight of him...we can never get him out biggrin

My lad went up there yesterday, Somerset fan like the rest of us.

Didn't have the best of days. His coach was delayed leaving London so he got to the ground two hours late, missing some of the first innings. Then he saw Somerset fail to turn up (after their quarter final heroics v Derbyshire) and finally, left the ground at the end & has somehow lost three hours of his life. Bag lost/stolen, glasses lost/stolen and he ended up crashing on the floor of some student guy that took pity on him. Had his passport in there and his iPad (albeit an old one)....... frown

Didn't see any of finals day as we were playing - right in the middle of Roundhay park

My young 2nd XI against top of the league (granted it's only Wetherby League division 3)

Batted first and put on 171-8 - I got in for the last ball for a glorious 1*. Under 15 top scored with 37

Then bowled them out for 142 with my other U15s taking 5-30 and 3 for 16

Loved it

Doesn’t exactly surprise me given that their supreme leader is.

Does Scottish and English cricket have the same supreme leader?
