So Ahmed will be our youngest ever test player replacing the great Brian Close.
Not sure i agree with it as he has show a little but in very few games, and one was vs. the mighty Derbyshire, and in the times i've seen him been smacked around.
i dont think it will go well and devalues the cap...i'm all for if there good enough age is not an issue, but he's done nothing really special in his very very limited career so far.

Watched this as it happened, incredible to watch....
the players about as interesed as the fans! lesson to the hundred, the BBL is falling on its ass as zero interest in it by the fan after the initial free tickets and promos. hundred will be exactly the same once they stop bussing in school kids and giving away cheap tickets yet claiming its a massive success - same as the WSL does!https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/63998982

Either way shows how rubbish the test rankings are, SA were number 2 in the world before this series. They have been murdered out there.
Now down to fourth.
Seems to be the World number 1 is whoever manages to play the most tests at home.
South Africa have been dire recently, wonder if KP is on telly over there blaming the franchise system of their domestic first class cricket and advocating they move to a system like county cricket? Now down to fourth.

Watching the Big BAsh this morning and the fielding team asked for a review of an LBW decision given as not out by the umpire.
On the TV replay the ball pitched outside the off stump (bat side) so although the ball tracker showed it would have hit the stumps it remained umpire's decision - not out.
So I am confused, I know you cannot be out LBW to a ball pitched outside leg stump but having searched the rules of LBW and read various stuff on the internet I still cannot understand why this was not out? i.e. for LBW does the ball have to be pitching in line - on both leg and off sides? Can someone explain (in reasonably simple terms ) why this was not out? Thanks

That’s not quite right. It is the impact of the ball with the pad has to be in line with the stumps if the batter is attempting to play a shot. The ball can pitch outside the line of the off stump and still be given out LBW. If the batter isn’t playing a shot, the line of impact can be outside the line too.
I didn’t see the incident in question, but I suspect it was due to the margin of error allowed for with Hawkeye. If Hawkeye predicts that the ball would have only struck the outside half of the stump, then the on-field umpire’s decision stands, but the fielding team do not lose one of their reviews.

The ball was clearly going to hot middle stump so not umpire's decision because of that. The Aussie transmission showed it pitching, impact with the pad and hitting the stumps. Perhaps the commentator said pitched outside off stump when he meant impact outside off stump. Thanks though... To be honest, we watch a lot of cricket, of all formats, but unless you have played the game recently the LBW laws can be a bit confusing at times and TV commentators don't always explain it after the event. Anyone know of any good Cricket documentaries or programmes lurking anywhere?
I've watched The Test on Prime, both series, and Stokseys thing on Prime (twice), and Shane.
Missing my cricket fix (BBL hasn't really grabbed me), and it's another few weeks before the ENG/NZ test.
Just found The Edge. Worth renting?
