Ah, the old Tyson Fury get out clause.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/wladimir-klit...
Molina was brought in as a punchbag against wilder and gave him a hard time before being stopped in 9 rounds after having wilder down. It's not that he's good....wilder looked ste that night. Aj will wipe him out early I feel. He's quite static and hearn will want Joshua making a statement

On top of the news that it looks like Anthony Ogogo went into last weekends fight WITH a broken face already there is some very sad details here about the tragic death of Mike Towell here...

A reminder of just how brave and dedicated some of these fellas (and ladies) are and the horrible pressure to turn out on the night even in the face of such obvious warning signs.

So anyone interested in the Pacquiao fight at the weekend?
I must be the only Manny fan left!
I'll record it but I can't say it's really getting the adrenalin pumping. Have a nagging feeling that were Pacquiao to win (and should a rematch with FMJ fail to materialise), this will present a route for Pacquiao to go out at the top rather than being a launchpad for fights with the 'next generation' of stars in and around 147lbs. Not that I would blame Pacquiao should that be the case, but I can't really get too much more excited for this fight than I did Mayweather-Berto.I must be the only Manny fan left!
So...
AJ faces Eric Molina.
To be honest, it's not a bad fight to be making, he's still very inexperienced and Molina has been in with Wilder, someone AJ will have to face at some point in the next 24 months or so, and Molina will be a reasonable yardstick from which to work from.
He's got a decent KO ratio, decent size and relatively durable, with fast hands, so will certainly be a dangerous opponent, but ideal preparation for Wlad if he comes through that in decent fashion.
Happy with that fight to be honest, shame it's not Ortiz (but who would) Parker (too early for both of them....financially makes sense down the line) ...Haye (ridiculous risk for little reward).
Stiverne, Jennings and Ruiz will have to be on the radar, but perhaps as reasonable defences, financially okay, but not as dangerous as the others and Ruiz will be after Parker has had a nibble and that's another yardstick to measure on.
AJ's career is being carefully plotted, but I do believe he's prepared to take on anyone and the division is nicely poised for decent fights ahead.
Shame Tyson isn't going to be in the mix

Meh, I think that Price would have been a better fight but probably a bit too dangerous for not much cash.
Hasn't earnt that shot IMO.Lost wtice to Thompson who wasn't really that good and most recent fights against poor opponents (can't even recall names, but basically confidence boosters!)
The IBF and WBO do rank him fairly high though, so if he could come through against a Takam or Miller, that wouldn't do him any harm. Dare I say dispatching Charles Martin in similarly destructive fashion to AJ would help him massively.

Price lost 3 times to 2 men and each time the opponent tested positive for peds....people can talk about thompson on being on blood pressure meds...but the ones he was taking are a banned substance because they hide steroid use. Tepur should have had a much sterner punishment than he got.
If you look at it that way price should still be technically unbeaten.
Price and his bronze at the Olympics coupled with the fact he has starched aj in sparring gives the match up far more spice than Eric molina does....and would be a much bigger fight. But if pricey lands like Whyte did on Joshua or any one else and it's lights out.too big a risk for hearn i think...and at this point in aj's career I don't blame him tbh

Looks like the WBA have finally made their minds up about the Heavyweight title(s). Apparently they are happy to sanction Joshua-Klitschko for their 'super' belt, and have sanctioned Lucas Browne-Shannon Briggs for the regular belt.
Having thought about this, I've reached a conclusion...if I were Luis Ortiz, I'd be going bloody barmy with both those decisions!!! Amazingly for the WBA, at this moment in time they have no Heavyweight title holders; super, regular or interim. However, they do have rankings and presently their #1 ranked heavyweight is Luis Ortiz. Wladimir Klitschko was in line to fight for the WBA super title as a result of agreeing a re-match clause with Tyson Fury, which the WBA approved at the time...but that re-match is not happening! So why is Wladimir (ranked #2) still being given first bite at the belt ahead of Ortiz? Then the regular belt; okay, if the WBA are sympathetic to Browne's assertions that the failed drugs test was because his food was spiked, then it seems fair enough to give him the chance to regain it. But Shannon Briggs??? Ranked #8???
Just hope for Ortiz's sake that joining Matchroom will see him getting better treatment going forward (though clearly Eddie Hearn won't have been disappointed by the first decision given he campaigned for it...).

christ. it's getting messy now....my worry for ortiz is his age, although it only takes one fight i suppose...and let's face it, he wipes the floor with lucas browne OR shannon briggs so as soon as big eddie sorts him out that fight he's got a belt of sorts which will line him up for the big one......quite what eddie would do if aj beats wlad and he has to match 2 of his own fighters i don't know.......but at least he's hedged his bets if joshua doesn't beat klitschko!

So what happened to Haye Vs Shannon Briggs?
I wouldn't right off Shannon Briggs, he's got some really gruesome body punching and he's got experience that no one else (except WK) has in the heavyweight division these days. Plus his antics and personality make him box office.
i think haye was shamed into not fighting him as it would have been another mismatch....especially after his last 2 fiascos!I wouldn't right off Shannon Briggs, he's got some really gruesome body punching and he's got experience that no one else (except WK) has in the heavyweight division these days.
