The **BOXING** thread Vol 2
Discussion
Dominic Ingle gives his thoughts: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/apr/28/wlad...
"If I was training Klitschko I would stress how important it is to get through the first four to six rounds, when Joshua will be at his most dangerous. He has to make him miss, tie him up, and establish his own jab – and then, as the fight goes on, start to take him to places where he has never been before. Winning the battle of the jabs will be key. Yes, Joshua is tremendously fast and powerful, but Klitschko’s jab is more technically sound and accurate. And although he doesn’t look it, because he stands a bit upright, the Ukrainian is also very hard to hit.
He will also be reminding himself that Joshua has never been the distance. One of the worst things for a fighter is when they go into a bout knowing they may have to go 12 rounds for the first time. No matter how well they prepare physically, it gets in their head. And if it does go into the latter stages Joshua – as good as he is – will find himself facing fresh challenges."

AJ will topple Wlad with a left hook. I am incredibly nervous and excited about this in equal measures- it will be a very close fight, but I do think AJ will do it. People think he's one-dimensional etc, but he is an Olympic gold medalist so he is obviously technically capable (in addition to being a very heavy hitter).
I think it will be over inside 7 rounds.

AJ has tree trunk legs as well.I think they've very similar physically, so this comes down to the whole speed/age/experience thing.
Both can bang. No doubt.

playing devils advocate mate....he should technically be a silver medalist because camarelle really did win that fight comfortably....I think it will be over inside 7 rounds.
that said, i don't think he's one dimentional....we just haven't seen him have to be crafty with his feet yet....

just to bit a bit nit picky.....but theres only one guy who's banged him out and that was corrie sanders...and he punched like a mule kick.......
the purrity and brewster losses were absolutely attritional.......
if joshua takes him out clean he'll be only the second man to do so in nearly 200 fights......but wlad is as old as the hills now

I did wonder if that would get a response from you mate. And of course, you're right in so much as the only one to bang him out was Sanders who had incredible punching power. It's academic but he did get stopped by Brewster and Purrity but it was poor conditioning on his part more than outright punch power. Samuel Peter would have been a better example as he knocked Wladimir down 3 times in their first match in a fight he was having his head boxed off by Klitschko.

i'll tell you what, i've not seen many men beat like he was beat in the second fight....how it took 10 rounds to chop down that tree i'll never know.....i'd have been gone in 30 seconds...

Yeah I was impressed with his toughness, especially after being softened up by Vitali.i'll tell you what, i've not seen many men beat like he was beat in the second fight....how it took 10 rounds to chop down that tree i'll never know.....i'd have been gone in 30 seconds...
I so so wish Vitali was 7/8 years younger in today's division. He would have annihilated Fury.

Well
AJ who was far from ripped (despite what the early reviews are saying). His gut is massive.....Looks like a Pro bodybuilder for some reason ??

Looks at the pro bodybuilders side on - their profile looks like they have a beer gut.
AJ has packed on the lean beef since his Olympics debut...hmmm
That said the only difference for many in pro boxing is the difference in these that get caught and those that avoid getting caught.
Hang about, hang about...I think I've only gone and cracked a puzzle that's been bugging me for bloody ages!
Thanks to his Lordship, I've just learnt this...:

It's well documented that Steroids and HGH cause a distended abdomen.

Next you'll say Park Si-Hun didn't beat Roy Jones Jr in Soul.
We could be saying that Savon beat Joshua in the first round of the Olympics like many observers thought (including myself) and if it wasn't for a bit of a gift home town decision this fight wouldn't be anywhere near right nowYiliterate said:

My extremely distended abdomen must be a result of my Mrs secretly putting Steroids on my cornflakes .http://www.express.co.uk/sport/boxing/797225/Tyson...

I'd like a gut just like that please...
You wouldn't... it indicates your visceral organs have grown inline with your muscles..Recombinant growth hormone took over from natural growth hormone during the mid 80's . Natural HGH had issues with CJD. Beyond therapeutic doses (which strength athletes use) the stomach distension is a side effect. Who knows what the future holds at a cellular mutation level.
Your going to have to really want it to use GH at high doses.
