Yup, was expecting a formality. Haven't seen it yet, but from reading up it appears Manny will be favourite in tbe rematch. Congrats to Horn though, Australia will be in party mode today.

Wowzer! Manny too old and maybe a bit unfocussed these days?

That's not to take anything away from Horn who clearly got the job done, despite throwing half the punches!

Mayweather will have been laughing his head off. A rematch with him is pretty much impossible now.

Paq should retire after fighting Horn again.

Close fight. I wasn't the slightest bit surprised to see Horn get the decision he took the fight to Manny throughout the contest.

I'm gutted Manny lost. The decision was definitely a 'home side advantage' decision.

I think Manny definitely looked under prepared for the fight and possibly didn't train well enough.

To compete at high level boxing at the twighlight of his career as a part time boxer is a lot to ask.

If we're all being completely honest, someone of Pacquiao's talent should have completely blown Horn out of the water and then we wouldn't have to listen to people claiming it was a dubious decision. I had Pacquiao winning but that was a close fight so no-one can moan that Horn got the nod.

I don't think Horn would fare too well against Thurman or Spence and although great fighters, I believe Pacquiao would have blown both of them out of the water in his prime.

He looked great against Bradley and Vargas but I think it's time to hang the gloves up after a fantastic career. Father-time is undefeated.

given cox was about to fight rocky fielding i'm shocked he's in this tourney....i understand why he's taken this route but guys like george groves are going to be coming far too soon for him i think.

Huck will be a good addition to the cruiserweight tournament , but yeah, he's definately on the downside of his career now..

the cruiserweight round robin is going to be spectacular. i can't remember a time in the division where it's been as strong as it is now....
Here's an odd one; latest fighter to sign up for the Super-Middleweights...

...Juergen Braehmer!

Presumably that also means WBA regular belt-holder Tyron Zeuge won't be entering the tournament (to George Groves' disappointment)...unless there's been a bust-up between him and Braehmer and it's being set up for a Rocky 5-esque 'trainer vs protege' grudge match! hehe

Looking forward to the boxing tonight- Buatsi mainly as it's his pro debut but also Okolie, Benn, Chamberlain etc.

Benn vs Collins- hope it doesn't happen, we don't need to see blokes in their mid 50's knocking lumps out of each other. It's a dangerous enough sport and no one wants to see people take risks they shouldn't.
Whenever I go to away games it's always the mid 50's guys tearing to the front and knocking lumps out of each other.....makes them feel alive or something apparently...I'm all for it...lol!

Paul Butler, former IBF Bantamweight world champion, has just split from Queensbury promotions. With Matchroom fighters Ryan Burnett and Jamie McDonnell holding Butler's old belt and the WBA regular Bantamweight title respectively, and Kal Yafai holding the WBA Super Flyweight title (a division Butler has boxed in as well), along with Hearn's willingness to match fighters from his stable, it wouldn't be a massive shock if he ends up there with an eye on a title shot before the year is out...

Paqman obviously took a few rounds off, Enough to make it debatable. I don't think its the travesty a lot are making it out to be.

Seen this on my YouTube timeline. 15 min video about the Gatti v Ward trilogy. If you have time it's a really good watch.

https://youtu.be/VOc829Mqg68

At the end of round 5 in the first fight, when Ward goes into turbo mode on Gattis face, it's almost as if you can feel the punches.

I was only 7 when they first fought and wasn't into/didn't know much of boxing at that time. If there was one fight I wish I could have watched live...it would probably be that.

Manny and the Philippines sports body has asked the WBO to review the Horn fight refereeing and judging decision.

Also Arum and Freddy falling out won't help anyone. Although I would say that it maybe time for Manny to change coach/training environment if wishes to continue boxing to freshen things up.

guardian said:
Meanwhile, the recriminations are continuing inside Pacquiao’s camp. His promoter, Top Rank boss Bob Arum, and advisor Michael Koncz have both attacked referee Mark Nelson for letting Horn get away with putting Pacquiao in headlocks and punching while holding him.

But Arum blamed Pacquiao’s long-time trainer Freddie Roach for not “yelling at the referee” between rounds to alert him to it. “The corner didn’t have a strategy. They were all amazed Jeff Horn was such a tough, rugged fighter and they didn’t adapt to it,” Koncz said.

Was just going to post up the same

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/40503711

Whatever happens it's going to make for a spicy grudge rematch if it happens.

Is it likely the WBO could nullify the verdict and order a rematch or something similar?

I make no secret of being a huge huge Manny fan - He's my hero for many reasons; but I do think this should be looked at.
