Surprised at this, I thought the fight was a done deal and was about to be announced?
100% right decision no question. He had no realistic chance of winning the re-match and would have suffered a crushing and hurtful defeat. He has nothing to proove and is set for life so why fight a fight you have next to no chance of winning, at 41 years of age...
Not a big fan of Wlad but he is clearly a gentleman and a credit to the sport despite me not enjoying his fighting style at all.
AJ will massacre Pullev, if he lasts 6 rounds I will be very surprised.

AJ's biggest problem now will be lack of credible opponents, a genuine 50:50 fight (or even 70:30 for that matter).
Pullev and Ortiz are old, slow, lumbering lumps. Ortiz is more durable than Pullev but ultimately has just as little chance, will just take more of a beating.
Parker/Hughie will not be able to stand up to his physicality and power and then there's Bambi legs Wilder...

Correct decision by Wlad IMO. Even though he lost the fight, he never did his reputation any harm. His legacy was already cemented.
I'm not his biggest fan as I found some of his fights boring but he came across as a pretty decent guy and I'd rather see him leave whilst still in good health rather than fighting for way too long.

What happened to Garcia v Linares?
Think Garcia is seeing $$$ at Light-Welter (Broner, winner of Crawford-Indongo?) and possibly Welterweight, while Linares is seeing £££ this side of the pond, having built a profile through the Mitchell and Crolla fights over here, with contests against Luke Campbell (even though that's in the US apparently?) and potentially a unification with Terry Flanagan in the pipeline. In short, Garcia vs Linares may just have been a contest neither of them particularly needed...http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/40824231
AJ has been ordered to defend the WBA against Ortiz now. So how does that leave things with Pulev & the IBF (I think)? Presume he'll have to vacate one belt? It seems impossible to hold all the belts for any length of time now

Looks like Joshua will vacate the WBA...for quite a while they've been saying they'll fulfil the IBF mandatory against Pulev if the Klitschko rematch didn't happen. It's a pity...boxing politics can be a bh.AJ has been ordered to defend the WBA against Ortiz now. So how does that leave things with Pulev & the IBF (I think)? Presume he'll have to vacate one belt? One positive is that Ortiz - should he win the vacated WBA belt - seems desperate to get in big fights, so a (re)unification with Joshua's IBF title may not be that hard to make.

Dear oh dear... The Amir Khan circus carrys on, he's now divorcing the missus as apparently she's been playing away with AJ no less!!
Ouch https://twitter.com/amirkingkhan?lang=en-gbHe has a sense of humour about it "She's moved up in the weight class" She has replied too: https://twitter.com/FaryalxMakhdoom
Frankly, child aside, it is probably the best for him. She is an airhead celeb wannabe, who looks weird and plastic. Hope he doesn't get screwed in the divorce and being single gets him full focused on his remaining time as boxer, as he is getting old and has not fought as much as he should have.
Speaking of which, that's the first time I've clocked eyes on that wife-thing. What a peculiar specimen.
