I'm not a fan of that stoppage at all. Sure, Takam had lost almost every round but he was still a live dog in that fight.

Joshua needs to wake up and not rely solely on power. He should have been atleast 10 lbs lighter than that for a start. I thought him gassing in the Klitschko fight would be the wake-up call he needed.

The fight played out pretty much as I imagined but I didn't expect Joshua to come in so heavy which had a massive effect on his stamina and punch power. I thought he'd be moving a little more, utilising his jab to wear Takam down and then finish it around rounds 9-10.

Just looked at the end again and yes, Takam was taking some heavy shots but he was still able to defend himself.

Crowd reaction to the stoppage said a lot.

He took a couple of decent shots, His defence was non existent. I'm not keen on fighters relying on their resilience once the fight is lost, bit that was a super keen stoppage.

Agreed.
The Sky commentary is infuriating.
AJ clearly didn’t train as hard as he should have done - looked slow and a bit Bruno. Huge heart Mr Takem, true warrior.
Poor stoppage decision from the ref imho too - too keen to get the pesky Takem out of there.
AJ is a wonderful actor.
£10m - Good nights work for the lad - the people’s choice now...

AJ has definitely been looking vulnerable over his last few bouts.

His dad is a big boy huh?

Pathetic stoppage. Hopefully we will never see that ref again.

I don't rate Wilder at all. He arm punches, his balance is awful and he has fought the path of least resistance. That said, he would have beaten AJ tonight on size and fitness alone. I hate that I'm saying this but it's true.

Joshua needs to get that weight down and focus on agility and movement. I knew that this would be a tough fight but he could have easily been toppled tonight.

The extra weight that Joshua carried tonight really affected him. He needs to lose a stone or two - affected his stamina a lot. A bit inexperienced from Joshua - needs some good nutritionist around him to monitor his food and weight.

"I know you don't understand English so we've got a translator in"

TAKAM GOES ON TO REPLY TO THE QUESTION AND ALL OTHERS IN PERFECT ENGLISH.

I think not being able to breathe through a broken nose probably had more to do with it.

Plus he had bulked for a far bigger opponent.

I disagree entirely with regards to the opponent. They had, allegedly, decided that a more slender figure would have been better for Pulev because they'd be able to jab with him and out-manoeuvre him which is entirely understandable. What they wouldn't have done was decided to pile on the weight to deal with Takam with only 2 weeks notice. He just isn't as devoted as he should be right now.

The fight definitely shouldn't have been stopped, but I do wonder if Takam was going to manage with much more of the abuse AJ was giving him towards the premature end. He's clearly got a great chin on him, but it seemed AJ had decided that was to be the end and went all guns blazing.

I think the stoppage just delayed the result, especially with over a minute left in the round, but AJ definitely needs to lose a little weight.

Lot of comments around weight and being sluggish, but he was the same against Klitschko and people must have told him then.

So why didn't he change it up.

Out of interest, why is boxing PPV?

Why is a subscription to Sky Sports/BT Sports etc not enough?

Can you imagine the outrage if they suddenly made the Football World Cup Final PPV?

There's a stream at the minute running with 8,000 viewers, increasing by the minute. I can't blame them either, just seems greedy to me...
It would be ppv, think there are laws protecting certain football events such as FA Cup, international tournaments and so on, they must be shown on terrestrial, otherwise it would all be on sky and the like.

But for those of us already with Sky Sports, which is increasing in price twice a year, it's another extra on top of that level of PPV. It's ridiculous.

Especially when you're talking about a sport that is 1v1 and can end at any time WITHIN the scheduled 12 x 3 minutes that it could last. Remember the Haye fight? £20 and he was a cripple for most of that, totally unbalancing the fight and therefore compromising the level of entertainment. There's been plenty of 1st, 2nd or 3rd round knockouts....£20 for less than 9 minutes of entertainment, on top of my £20 something a month for Sky Sports.

For my £20 something a month for Sky Sports I get about 20 football matches, all guaranteed to be 90 minutes in length, and if one player from one side gets injured, it doesn't ruin the rest of the match.

Eddie wants 3 fights for Joshua next year...I wonder why....$$$$$$$$$

I know I can vote with my wallet etc etc, but I genuinely like the sport and unless I stream illegally (which I'm not saying I haven't done, but also not admitting too) I have no other option but to suck it up.

Obviously AJ does not have to make any kind of weight limits and the simple fact is that he is not putting in the required hard training sessions and it shows. The broken nose would not have helped matters but he is still running out of gas in fights.

Clearly his training team have weighed up the advantages and decided that Joshua is most effective as an 18st+ battering ram.
