What a fight that was! I'd hate to be a judge in that position.
Briedis controlled the distance really well, timed Usyk fantastically and landed the harder shots that Usyk clearly felt. Usyk was relentless, didn't take a back foot for almost the entire fight and absorbed those monster shots from Briedis. When Briedis went on the front foot, Usyk looked in complete control but that's obviously not his normal style as he looks to land that big right hand as his opponents fall in.
Both are counter punchers and I must admit I was expecting a slower paced fight but Usyk is a nutter and forced the fight from round one. I'd love to see them go again at it.

Just had to watch that again without the influence of gin.. ..
Best cruiserweight fight i have ever seen.
Love both of them and gutted someone had to lose but on the other hand briedis fought so well that even though he lost he emerges with more credit than he he was given before the fight.
For me usyk probably shaved the fight by a round but it proves how good briedis is that it was so close....both are small for heavyweight but with those skill levels could both do really well

Yeah, I had Usyk by a round, more due to the work ethic and work rate, which I thought was slightly higher.
Couldn't see the official stats as I actually watched 7 through 12 on the phone, in bed!
Always wonder though if you notice it more with a south paw and the other guy lets them come forward a bit more as they're not so used to it.
Also wondered what they'd look like at heavyweight. That work rate and movement could make things interesting.
Can't help but feel they'd need to do a lot of running away though until they tired the bigger guys out.

Yeah, usyk is naturally more of a counterpuncher than he showed last night.
I read somewhere that for every southpaw there are 15 orthodox.. ..so it definitely suits the southpaw being more used to it....theres nothing i hate more than going at it with another southpaw because it feels like fighting in a mirror...everything is the wrong way round to my normal perspective
Usyk and his style would work well up against the big guys. Draw them on and wear them out.
I'm just in the middle of the linares card....his opponent gesta has got a real resemblance to pacquiao in his movement and relentless attack....linares a real class act though...seems to find a way against any style.. .
Matthyse up next...
