Jumping the gun a bit, untill it is announced it isn't done. You could end up with egg on your face!
Good morning Tuscaneer smile

Dates to be confirmed, but sounds like Wilder is AJ's next fight...

(Note the way I am not counting any chickens before they are hatched hehe)

they're like a pair of rutting stags this lotlaugh

i reckon they may well be moving on negotiations.....for february....but i think joshua saw in the price fight that povetkin has sufficiently softened enough for him to pocket another 20 odd million before the big one.....

i hope i'm wrong though!....if he does lose to povetkin it's all fked. unless there is a rematch clause in the contract with ryabinsky. which i would bet my house on that there is!

How do we see a Wilder vs AJ fight playing out (assuming it all goes ahead in the UK)? Who wins, and how?

i see both of them getting off the floor...but joshua looks much tidier and defo stronger. mid rounds stoppage for joshua after a scare

i mean physically stronger....i see them both having similar punch power

I think the Wlad knockdown and wobbly legs has fundamentally changed AJ. Going into that fight AJ was happy to trade, but now he is thinking more about defense.

When their height/reach are similar, a good boxer should beat a good puncher.

AJ is a good boxer, Wilder is a terrible one. So Aj should win if he sticks to a game plan, he may even make it look easy. However AJ doesn't have the movement of the likes of a Tyson Fury, and Wilder has speed, so Aj could very easily could get caught.

So a 50-50. Who knows.

it isn't lost on me that joshua is consulting heavily with wlad....as you know i am the foremost nerd where wlad is concerned and while aj is nowhere near the skill level of klitschko yet there are remarkable similarities in how their styles morph over time....in early wlad fights he was a wrecking ball taking guys out with reckless abandon.....and he occasionally paid the price...joshua the same really.....i would actually like to see him tidy up more and get more considered....he'll be a better fighter with greater longevity when he does

True, but will the crowd will soon turn against him, you can't be a nice guy and be defensive, you have to be play the bad guy for that or AJ's will also end up with the mainstream popularity level of Wlad... and be labelled as boring.

With home advantage, and Wilder not boxing so well, it will be very unlikely that Wilder can win on points, so AJ just needs to not get knocked out to win!

Anyone know much about Robert Easter Jr, any good? Mickey Garcias next opponent in a unification fight.

Tall for the weight class at 6ft1 giving a 5" height and 8" reach advantage.

don't forget though pal, wlad might not have had crossover appeal here and in the states but in europe and the rest of the eastern bloc countries both brothers were icons for years.....but i accept that a european boxing crowd is fundamentally more purist that a rowdy fairweather crowd over here....and i agree with you that his massive poularity over here would wane if he turned into a purists wet dream....final point though....you can fight like that and still get the knockouts...wlad retired with a ko percentage of nearly 90%....

Where would Lennox Lewis fit into that picture? Certainly became a more calculating fighter after linking up with Steward, but clearly didn't harm his box office appeal or profile, least of all in the States, and without taking on the role of the bad guy either...

...there again, it would be quite a feat for anyone to out-'bad guy' Mike Tyson!

David Haye confirms retirement. Thank God. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-KqbQIljzU

Had a great career and achieved a lot, if one can forget the sham of the last two.

Yeah, its always gonna be the tysons/dempseys/sullivans that draw the most gasps....but you are right...lennox lost none of his allure after hooking up with steward...although fights like the ones with morrison and mercer were certainly exciting enough for me!

Looks like he'd been keeping a back injury quiet as well...

In his prime he was a superb fighter; I sincerely hope retirement treats him well...

Wow. that paragraph sounds like an admission of guilt to me.

So his back went taking his legs with it, and he knew with his career over, and he had to make as much money as possible... On the one hand I don't know if he was broke and needed the money, but on the other hand that is money people may have worked hard for, given away to him to get richer. Hmmm.

How did he bulk up as much as he did, if his body is falling to pieces?

By the sound of it, he'd hardly be able to train.
