Amir Khan's next opponent apparently being announced later today...anyone heard any rumours who it might be?
Danny Williams round the back of the Dog and Duck?

Samuel Vargas it is then...but I'm guessing, similar to Pulev/Takam, Danny Williams has been asked to keep himself ticking over, just in case...

Americans fans are very patriotic, so wonder how pissed off they will get over this.
If I were in Wilder’s shoes, I’m not sure I’d be nodding in agreement with that. He’s holding the WBC strap (‘the one that Ali held’ as is customary to trot out...a bit like Reliant Scimatars and Princess Anne!), he looks the part, he talks the part (copyright E.Hearn hehe ), he’s unbeaten in 40 with a KO percentage in the high 90s(!!!), he’s American and he’s exciting as fk because he clearly has the potential to starch anybody but at the same time is vulnerable himself...yet he’s still very much the B-side in this fight. If I’m Deontay Wilder, I’m not sure I’m feeling the love just yet...!
But isn't that because he never fought many (anyone) credible, prior to Oritz even. Oritiz numbers were ok I think, and the whole AJ saga has got him a lot of PR over there as well as here. If he had taken better fights (and won them) than the yanks would have been behind him.

Eddie is on BBC today saying he wants Wilder to sign for 13th April. Hope he does, and AJ will get an easier time if he is fighting other with a contract for Wilder rather than being asked the question every two minutes instead.

Im just hoping Wilder doesn't lose on points to someone prior to AJ.

Read everything both parties have said, very much sounds like Eddie and AJ playing boxing politics. So meh, no money to be paid by me into AJ pockets until he stops playing the games. Povetkin fight also needs to be exciting, as AJ's last two fights for the casual fan have been not, so his popularity may wane.

Well, for me, if there was any significant swell of patriotism, him being American and a consistent winner (in a division they long regarded as being their own) should have been enough to see them lining up behind their man in numbers as his journey was progressing...not sitting on their hands and saying ‘get back to us when you’ve beaten umpteen big name opponents’ (if that’s what they’re doing). Regarding the Ortiz contest, despite being Wilder’s biggest fight against a genuinely credible opponent, it apparently wasn’t considered big enough to go to PPV, while 14k in the Barclays Center is respectable but still only around 3/4s capacity. You’re right; he will be getting more attention/profile via the Joshua situation...but, after 40 straight wins and 3 years as world champion, if the above gives a measure of where he is without Joshua, that tells a story...which in a way is a pity.

Personally, I’m not fearing too much for Joshua in terms of flack coming his way if the Wilder fight doesn’t get made in short order. Once more, he’ll be taking on another seriously credible opponent in Povetkin (ranked in the top 5 will all four bodies; #1 with two of them) and already has more than enough credibility in the bank from challenging for a world title in his 16th fight, then having two further unification fights by his 21st. Of course, there’ll always be mischief-makers out there...can’t please all of the people all of the time... hehe

Apparently, Adrien Broner has just signed a 5-fight, $50m deal with Mayweather promotions! I really hope this means him sorting himself out and doing everything he can to fulfil his potential, which is immense.

For a long while, he's been trading on the 'people will pay up hoping to see me get beaten' line. Well, having now lost three and drawn one of his last ten fights, I'm not sure how much mileage is left in that as the novelty is probably starting to wear off...let's hope the money involved is reflective of a genuine focus on becoming a legitimate star of the sport rather than the car-crash circus act that he's become over the last few years. Here's hoping...

Can't agree with you there I'm afraid, its not nice to wish anyone harm, especially not a boxer, but in Broner's case i excuse myself an exception and hope he gets badly beaten over the next 5, gets an expensive divorce (or two) and ends up in a trailer park with a meth habit...

So not your cup of tea then laugh Broner's unpredictability is fun for fans. When he recently disclosed the matchroom offer, Eddie was surprised as he had made broner sign a non disclosure during the discussion hehe he probably didn't know what it was though.

Signing with Mayweather promotions doesn't bode well, Floyd delivers hand picked opponents for maximum revenue. Well at least Broner will win a few fights...

About Wilder, really hoping he signs up for April. As he is the most exciting fight for AJ and once I would love to see.

Would also be interesting to see an Ortiz rematch too if Ortiz gets through the eliminator.

Good podcast about the story of the fight that gripped the world in 1938 between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling.

Hearn burning bridges with Showtime, probably not the best idea seeing as they are owned by CBS, a top 5 global entertainment company...

The Dazn official US launch in next few weeks is going to be very interesting regarding who they have managed to sign.

He’ll be waiting until next year for the WBSS winner I reckon especially if that winner is Groves.

Eubank or BJS could be made in the next few months likely on PPV though and not sure how well that’d sell with the WBSS final, Whyte v Parker and Joshua all due to be in PPV in quick succession.

Degale loses to lol 4 of those options imo though

I couldn't make a case for Degale winning any of those fights either based on his last couple of performances. He can look so good in spells but then just has rounds off & does nothing.

I used to think Degale would be the one to beat Smith, now I wouldn't advise he took that fight if it becomes an option.

I said as much after seeing the Stallone and Wilder picture. He looked a lot leaner.
