I was watching that DAZN press conference for Joshua vs Povetkin last night. Then in comes Miller 'pretending' to try and get in Joshua's face but gets held off by Eddie Hearn of all people.
It couldn't have looked anymore scripted. So I guess after Povetkin we're going to get Joshua vs Miller.

Meanwhile povetkin allows himself a little smirk thinking that nobody is giving him a second thought

Very frustrating the whole thing. Probably one of the reasons we're both so excited to see two well past their prime all-time greats having an exhibition match in a few months. Meanwhile povetkin allows himself a little smirk thinking that nobody is giving him a second thought
I don't expect Povetkin to win but you're right, he's a guy you just can't look past. He has dynamite in his hands and is the second biggest puncher AJ will have faced. I expect him to be softened up and stopped without too much bother by round 5/6/7 but he really does need to keep focused and not get clocked by Povetkin.
Also, this is the clip I was talking about where Haye hits Chisora at the post fight press conference. All the other clips I saw it looked as though he clocked him once and you could see the glass smash as he connected. Here though, that left hand completely froze Chisora and shook him to his boots. Absolutely savage.

Clever of Hearn. It couldn't have looked anymore scripted. So I guess after Povetkin we're going to get Joshua vs Miller.
Think it is more to distract that he has surprisingly, failed to sign up any US mainstream superstar names.
I'm not sure how Eddie is viewed over the pond with all the comments back and forth, but suspect it isn't favourable and that contributed. Was interesting to hear Drake's new album last week, he name checks Al haymon when talking about how good his contract is, so that level of trust needs to be built up over there and eddie may need to tone it down a bit.
Joshua is going to be very well paid indeed for letting DAZN screen the fight though!

http://boxrec.com/en/event/771057 The bill next weekend is looking quite good. I think Parker vs Whyte is one of the more interesting fights at the moment and Chisora is on the undercard along with Benn who is always a good watch.
Absolute joke of a box office cardand we've got to pay for usyk/gassiev as well....but that is worth a tenner all day long. getting pretty buzzed for this now....

That is worth the cash as it’s the best 2 in their division and a class fight. Whyte v Parker doesn’t get the juices flowing, Chisora v Takam has potential to be good but depends which chisora shows up and Conner Benn wouldn’t be on the card if it wasn’t for his last name. Granted his last fight was a cracker but those were the matchups we would get for free on a Friday fight night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1eY5WpfK38
Katie Taylor although I take an interest in women’s boxing most others aren’t tuning in to watch her, I actually think she gets beat by Jonas too when they eventually clash.
And then we have Buatsi v TBA.....
I really do hope this bombs out as a PPV to send a message to Sky and fast Eddie

Absolute joke of a box office cardI want Gassiev to win but I think Usyk will be too slick for him, will fight a very disciplined fight and will get a narrow points decision.
Hope I'm wrong and it turns into a bit of a war but I doubt it will, Usyk's movement is too good.
AJ vs Povetkin- a fight I'm really looking forward, more so than AJ vs Wilder (but that's mostly to do with never being able to take Wilder seriously).
I think a comfortable win for AJ. It's too late for Povetkin I think, he's 10 years older, a good 5-6 inches shorter and is giving up too much size. I don't see him being able to absorb AJ's power the way that Takam did, he will get stopped shortly after the mid way point. Depending on how he fights it could be a lot earlier.
Hearn seems to be underestimating Povetkin (talking a few times now as if AJ has already beaten him!) but AJ and Rob certainly won't be.

It's a fight I've been looking forward to. Both have iron jaws, both hold two belts each and both are their respective best in the division.
Usyk likes to dart in and out and use lateral movement to counter his opponents whilst Gassiev likes to walk his opponents down and knock them out. Gassiev has been prone to getting hit a lot by decent boxers and Usyk is nowhere near as effective when he has a smothering type of opponent in front of him (such a Briedis).
So in my mind, it's a 50/50 fight and whoever settles in to their game plan early on will win. I will, however, be keen to see how well Usyk handles Gassiev's power as although he has a great chin, some of the Heavyweights that have sparred Gassiev claim that he has ludicrous power in those hands.

Love em both.....i think usyk will frustrate gassiev.. .and the earlier he feels murats power the more likely he will be to maintain distance between them which will widen the cards slightly...i predict a usyk points win but not by a tremendous margin.....of course murat could knock out a gorilla so who knows!

Pretty much where I'm at with it too.As much as I love a knockout artist, I'll be rooting for Usyk purely because I love fighters who are able to slip, counter, box intelligently and even go to war if they have no other options. Will be happy for whoever wins regardless!
