From a boxing perspective, this was always the fight I was most interested in for Bellew. No doubt a fight against Fury would have been a bigger event and a greater spectacle, but I’d say the Usyk fight gives a better chance for Bellew to prove what he’s capable of as a fighter.

He performed very well against a good champion in Cleverly at Light-Heavyweight but came up short against a great champion in Stevenson. It’s widely accepted thought that the weight was killing him at 175lbs. However, whilst being very successful, since stepping up from Light-Heavy, his main fights have been the re-match with Clev (who showed he wasn’t a Cruiserweight and quickly went back down to Light-Heavyweight), the title fight with Macabu and the defence against Flores (decent fighters but probably a step below any of the WBSS semi-finalists) and the two fights with an injured/shot David Haye. I’m certain Bellew at Cruiserweight is an entirely different prospect from him at Light-Heavyweight...what I’d love to see is him in with a Stevenson-level opponent at 200lbs to really gauge that. Cue Mr Usyk...!!!

Tyson Fury ahead of his fight in Belfast:

"People like to see the underdog win, they like a good comeback story - they want to see the Gypsy King back on top of the heavyweight division.

When I do that I'm sure they'll end up making a movie about me, and I hope Denzel Washington is the star."

this made for interesting reading when it popped up on the klitschko instagram page...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_reigning_hea...

4382 days as champion , more world title fights than anyone else in history and more opponents beaten than anyone else.......will we see that level of dominance again in our lifetime?....i seriously doubt it you know!!..

also.... i though lennox was looking more in shape recently...now we know why!!!eek

Two of my favourite fighters to have ever laced them up. Ridiculous how the talk of an exhibition match between them both has got me more excited about this fight than I have been in years.

Lewis is looking in incredible shape too. I know he's running his Jamaican camp and getting more involved than he otherwise would but you can tell he's whipping himself into shape.

i'm absolutely buzzing just to see the 2 of them at ring centre again mate!!.....actually i'm more fired up for that than joshua wilder!!laugh
So it looks like Lewis-Klitschko is on! However, as much as you may want it, I can't see these two having a tear-up at their age; if they do finally get to meet in the ring once more, I reckon we'll end up seeing a real chess-match...

It's like WWF isn't it biggrin cheesey and staged to build the wilder fury fight.

Will be the same tonight probably, fury wins, wilder goes into the ring at the end, a load of trash talk and more hype for the fight, all fun and games though eh

Half chicken at Nando's is quite expensive too. For Fury, throwing a KFC bargain bucket would be more appropriate and I suspect that Saunders is now called Colonel Saunders laugh

Getting back to reality ... er, almost reality, nice to see Fury up against an Italian man who is 13th best German boxer. If that is reality.

Lets see how he does tonight. I think the guys a chump and would love to see him be knocked out, but to be fair, he has lost a lot of weight, he has come back from being rather portly and seems to be better placed mentally, so if he puts up a great show tonight I will be the first to eat my hat that is made out of humble pie and will cheer him on in America just to blow Detonates up.

I bought a bottle of vodka and 3 bags of microwave popcorn (salty) in salutations to the big fella.

Why didn't they choose the 3rd or 4th ranked young boxers from Germany rather the older 13th?

Been drinking vodka for party time ....

It's competitive sparring really, but to be honest, it's what Fury needs. It was never going to be a dynamite fight, that's not what Fury does, but he's moving well and looks sharp. Is he ready for Wilder? I don't think so, unless he steps it up a few gears for him, he's not seemed that intense to me.

Firstly I have to admit I am not a fan of his however I think it would be a huge mistake to fight Wilder next and even now its a huge mistake allowing him so close to his camp. He must need at least 1 if not two more fights
