It was close but I had the close middle rounds Much closer than the judges, just don’t see how 1 judge scored canelo winning rounds 5/6/7/8

Had to look at car mpubox which didn’t help at all to see they all gave canelo r5 despite being out thrown and outlander by clear margin.

I’d love to see it again but it had to be next fight and it needs to be neutral territory, outside the us/Mexico

I've watched it ahain without the excitement factor and even trying my best I still can't get past a 7 rounds to 5 in favour of golovkin. I'm sticking to my original scoring....116 to 112 in favour of golovkin who in the eyes of pretty much the entjre boxing world should now be 2-0 against canelo.fking disgusting that golden boy have successfully bought the titles and denied ggg his rightful place at the top of the middleweight division while pissing all over the sport and the fans...the sad thing is I knew this going into the fight

I've just watched this and cant see how Canelo won (I'm no expert and not claiming to be by the way).
The cynic in me believes that had GGG won (on the score cards) then that would be the end of the series, this way there has to be a third bout.

Canelo isn't exactly the most popular fighter out there, as a result, many people want him to lose. Let's not forget, GGG's team accused Canelo of running in the first fight, but here, it was GGG running.

It's like Canelo was saying "What?! What you gonna do now?! Where your power at?!" *PA PA POW* (that's the punch sound effects)

Sorry Rob but if you watched that fight and concluded that golovkin was running then you are missing a lot of what boxing is about. Giving a quarter step ground after taking a shot to create space to come back in with your own shots is not running. And it's not e an like golovkin was doing that all night because he spent the majority of the fight on the front foot. Both of them fought an to incredibly high standard and disgusting paid for judging aside that was one the more technically proficient showings from both guys in recent times.

Couldn’t have put it better, the fight was fantastic. Both came forwards and took steps back, they both seems to have a similar game plane to that extent with neither wanting to run or pressure too hard. I’d actually say I thought it was closer than the first fight.

The problem is the judging, and that’s not something either fighter can change.

It seems that scoring in boxing including very subjective things like 'what the boxer should be doing' based on their reputation and previous fights - it seemed the total expectation was on GG to be the aggressor - surely that is unfair. I think that is what Kellerman was referring to re story of the fight (i.e Canelo is broadly winning because he is doing what he said he would more than GG).

Team ggg should appeal mate..disgusting that he now hasn't beaten Hopkins record...merely equalled it....not in my eyes and the vast majority of the (non corrupted) boxing community

I've just re-watched it and made a few notes:

Bear in mind, almost all of the rounds were swing rounds, although 1, 2, 8 and 11 were the swingiest. The other rounds were a bit more decisive. Here are my scores:

Round 1:
Strong round for GGG. Solid jab.

Round 2:
GGG landing more, Canelo landing cleaner - not dissimilar from their previous fight. Canelo doing well stalking.

Round 6:
Canelo dominating GGG with body shots. GGG looking a bit tired.

Round 7:
Every punch Canelo throws has GGG taking a backward step. Nice uppercut by GGG in the last 10 seconds, but too little, too late.

Round 8:
Trench warfare. GGG looking strong.

Round 9:
Nice body shots by Canelo. GGG feels it.

Round 10:
Canelo starts off very strong. By the end of the first minute, I thought Canelo had this round in the bag, but halfway through the round, GGG detonates a BIG right hand. Canelo does his best Floyd impression and does well not getting tagged too much immediately after. Canelo resumes control, but GGG finishes stronger at the end.

Round 11:
Nip and tuck. GGG edges it.

Round 12:
Nip and tuck. Canelo edges it.

Overall, I got the impression that Canelo was doing the stalking and pushing the fight. Bear in mind the swing rounds I gave for GGG, so I don't see a problem with Canelo winning on the official scorecards.

But anyway, this is just my opinion. I actually don't know $h1t about boxing.

Not wanting to be argumentative pal....nicely put together and so on but if you scored the 12th to canelo you SERIOUSLY undermine your argument..that was a BIG BIG golovkin round.
I actually gave canelo the second which you have to golovkin....!!!..

Either way they have got to do it again ....and on neutral ground away from fishnets grubby,dirty influence....because across 2 fights now,even if you are a canelo fan...you really have to stretch reality to say he deserved to take those titles last night....

Yeah, Max Kellermen is an absolute ring piece, I don't get the whole idea that one guy is supposed to box one way and won't score if he doesn't, you score for punches landed. The whole idea of a "power punch" is complete bks too, a jab from either of those gentlemen has enough power to hurt a rhino, let alone doubling or tripling them up to head and body.

That said it was very close and its looks like Canelo has no respect for Golovkins power any more, whether that's because he's not only one of the most highly skilled boxers of modern times but also a triple hard bd or GGG's power is waning, I don't know. I had it to Golovkin based on jabs and shots landed but saw no real issue with a draw canelo by a round or two.

But HBO get rid of Keller men, the man's an absolute schlong.

Agreed, especially the last bit, just knew there was going to be some controversy bks against GGG.

5 judges would be a start. Collecting scores round by round, might help.

I think open scoring has to come, at least fighters know the scorecards are robbing them while they still have chance to do something about it
