Watching the Ohara Davies/Jack Catterall bill . . . Sam Bowen's got a new fan in me - like his ethic and attitude. Albeit unorthodox, great stoppage too!

Not much of a fight, it was clear that Johnson didn't want to get into a war and spent his time on the ropes. What worries me about Dubois is that he seems very one dimensional at the moment. He was getting sucked in when Johnson went to the ropes and didn't push him away to make space to let his shots go (which AJ did very well when he fought Johnson). I'm sure it will come and he will improve, but I am not sure how far he can go at the moment. I know he's still young and has a lot to learn, but his hand speed and ring IQ doesn't seem to be there for me.

Also, I'm enjoying BT coverage, I like Haye in between the fights and I think Bunce is very good with the questions ringside.

This is better....

I always enjoy a orthodox/southpaw fight, Davies looks twitchy in defence...

I must confess I'm a bit of a casual, but what the hell is this foot-on-foot stuff?

I'm wondering if this late night card is a ploy to get people to think sod it and stay up for the UFC.

Very much the case. Typical scheduling trick.

Scheduling aside

How is that standing on the opponents foot with a leading punch legal?

Depends if the ref views it as intentional or not. It's generally accepted it can happen in boxing when up close - same goes for a clash of heads.

Dire fight though and best forgotten!

It's a very common occurrence when an orthodox fighter faces a southpaw.

Lomachenko is a master at it - he constantly tried it against Jorge Linares, trying to get an advantage by pinning his foot and restricting his movement reaction for a split-second whilst Lomachenko changed angle of attack slightly. I'd imagine it's very distracting/annoying for the fighter as well, which also helps Lomachenko.

It's defo not a deliberate ploy believe me. As a southpaw myself I and my opponents always have to endure this. It happens because of the constant battle to take the outside with the lead foot. You're both trying to do the same thing and constantly stand on each other's feet... it is just as distracting and unbalancing whether you are the one being stood on or the one standing on. You can't set properly and I think it's a pain in the arse regardless....there is no way I would deliberately step on someone to slow them down...id be just as likely to unbalance myself and get clipped.

The fight last night, Johnston vs Beterbiev was good, (whilst it lasted) I'm not sure Callum had his tactics right really, trading short punches with a guy like Beterbiev is a pretty big roll of the dice but I've no doubt he won his respect and I'm sure Callum will bounce back from this reputation intact. Game loss for Gavin Mcdonnellon on same card as well.

Anyone see Inoue in the WBSS bantamweights? yikes

Fortunately Ryan Burnett is on the other side of the draw, but blimey, if he makes it through he's got his hands full!

Billy Joe Saunders' fight with Demetrius Andrade is off after he was denied a boxing licence by the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission.

Saunders is now likely to be stripped of his WBO world middleweight title.

Saunders said:
Saunders, who was dialled in on speaker phone, responded: “You can suck my prick.”
