Has anyone done the Westminster mile?
I'm in the orange/0930 wave
- does everyone start together or are there a number of sub waves
- if there are sub waves, do you have to be on the line at 0930?
After mullahing myself on that I'm also doing the parkrun wave but intend that to be a bit more gentle!
Thanks

Not really sure where to post this so please move it if need be.
Any PH members take part in Obstacle Course Races (OCR) Like Rat Race, Spartan, Tough Mudder etc?
Have done Tough Guy in the past and enjoyed it (As much as you can enjoy being freezing cold) but they are becoming a little more sanitized now which is good from an H&S point of viewAny PH members take part in Obstacle Course Races (OCR) Like Rat Race, Spartan, Tough Mudder etc?
Has anyone had symptoms similar to these as I think I may have strained something in the groin/core muscle area (the area below the belly button) :-/
- Anything that involves using the core muscles - sit up type movements - is very sore.
- Rolling over in bed/twisting also triggers it.
- After a run there is general 'discomfort' and everything seems really stiff.
- After a week of no running the general discomfort went away but going out for a run has caused it to flare up again (I assume the swinging of the legs is what does it).
Has anyone had anything similar and how long did it take before it went away?

I've bought a 2mm neoprene wetsuit vest to wear between longsleeve compression top and tech T.

Yes - I ended up taking about six weeks off as I kept running and re-doing it. Not what you want to hear and hopefully you're off for less time. Took ten weeks in all to resolve due to me trying to ignore it and only give it a few days.- Anything that involves using the core muscles - sit up type movements - is very sore.

I suspected as much. The last time I ran was on Sunday and its subsided again so will give parkrun a go tomorrow to see how I get on.Six weeks off is going to properly mess up my times but then so will running around inflaming it more
Looking forward to a weeks running through the Welsh mountains from tomorrow; hopefully can stay within the cuts and enjoy the scenery.

I've got a 10k route worked out now and did it for the first time, last night, without having to stop to check for directions (trail running around paths and byways)
Although after the rain we had recently, some of it has become a little overgrown incredibly quickly and with it also being a bit soft underfoot, it was tough going at times.
Did get an odd result from Strava. Its reporting that it was my PR for a 10k yet shows that the last time I ran it, I was quicker
last night:
Total route in 1:04:28
Avg page : 6:25/km
10K PR of 1:04:16
10th May (last time I ran it)
Total route in in 1:02:29
Avg pace : 6:13/km
10k time : 1:10:54
how can the 10k time take longer than the whole run did? :/
the only thing I can think of is that on the 10th May, I did pause Strava at about 6k round to take a photo but it's still an odd result.

Good luck Andy, will be following the race updates and hope it all comes together over the next 5 days.http://www.berghausdragonsbackrace.com
Reading that the first day is basically going backwards along the V3K route - one of the highlights of the UK ultrarunning circuit, well known for being a brutal race - really puts it into some sort of context. And four more days after that.

Had a good weekend myself, after a mojo-less week. Parkrun on Saturday, sub 21 again for a rough xc style course and then 23 miles on Sunday on the Cotswold Way, Monarch's Way and McMillan Way. Real fatigue hit at about 12 miles, so the remainder was an exercise in moving when under duress. I can't say 500m of climbing in the first ten miles will have helped.
Anyone done the Green Belt relay? http://www.greenbeltrelay.org.uk
11 person 220 mile 2 day relay (ish, fixed start times than a handover) around London. Tempted so see if my club can put a team together for next year but would be interested to hear anyone's experience of the logistics of it, as you need drivers and each team is supposed to provide marshals too.

Been doing some longer runs recently but I was short on time today due to a delivery being expected between 7am and 7pm, so popped out to bash out a 5k at 6am.
Managed a PR and I'm now doing 5k in 26:09 which is 5 minutes quicker than when I started running in late feb. I'm pretty happy with that progress
Interesting looking at max heart rate. The usual test of 220-'age' shows that I should be maxing out at 177bpm, but I'll often average that on a run, with peaks well into the 190s.
If I use the combined Londeree, Moeschberger and Miller calculations, that suggests a max hear rate of 181bpm which, on the face of it, sounds more accurate.
I think I'll need to do some more digging on this, but for now I'm happy to have Strava massage my ego by telling me that every run I do is "extreme suffer" or at least "tough"
