I'm the same, one race in December but very little training. In fact I think the 50-55km ultra I did was more mileage than the rest of December combined (although I thoroughly enjoyed that race.) I'm only slowly starting to look forward to training again. Think I need to pick out some races to work towards - having a bit of a goal gets me out of the door, and once I'm out there I generally enjoy it (I'd enjoy it more if I didn't get a sodding stich most runs though.)

Good work. I've been ill the last few days so missed it this year. It's a cracking course isn't it. What was your time? I have no idea how quickly you fast people do it in, it took me about 1:45 last year :-D

Managed the Rudolph's Rampage local Xmas race, a couple of parkruns inc. Christmas day and a bit of circuits, but there is no doubt a) I still have shin splints, and b) I ate everything in sight over Christmas.

A bit of focus required:

If no running - do core/physio/gym.

If no workout, don't eat like a dustbin.

Eat less sugar.

I had a grand sub 3.30 plan for April, but that's unlikely now - I shall embark on a get myself round in under 4.30 plan, mainly focused on consistent running first (can do about 5km before aggravating the shins - hope that starts rising soon), then add some distance. I may be the guy on the start line with a long run of 16 miles. Got another marathon in May, but this is trail, so likely five hours anyway, but I'll need to do some hills for that too. Very annoying to start the year injured, but it just shows the old 10% adage. I'd been pushing my luck for a month or so really.

Anyone fancy sharing their Strava stats for the year. I'll dig mine out and edit them in.

ETA:

I ran:

1,164.2 km against a goal of 1,000 km, lifted to 1,200.
121 hours 26 mins
Climbed 13,349m
Did 118 runs

Average run time: 1 hour 2 mins
Average run distance: 9.86 km
Average run climb: 113.12m
Average pace: 6.16 per km

2017 Highlights

"Ran" a distance pb of 90km in the Cotswold 24 Hour Race
Ran a parkrun pb of 20.39
Ran an unexpected second best time of 1.40.53 in my local half marathon in October off very mixed (read awful) training
Finally, I got this view out on the Cotswold Way while training for the 24 hour race. If I never race again, but continue to run in beautiful places, I think I'll be happy. I should probably focus a bit more on that...

Nice Strava run stats.
I can find the total miles but not the average run length or average pace? Can you post simple guide as to how to find these please?

For Strava Stats,

Go to My Profile (avatar in top right of screen)

Scroll down, looking at right hand side

Under My Stats, change the year from 2018 to 2017 to see last year

Do some maths for the ones Strava doesn't give you

Ta da!

I'm being dense as I can't see the averages either.
My stats are
Distance 509.3 km (of a 520 target)
Time 45h 39m
Elev gain 2883m
Runs 75

Getting the calculator out gives averages of
Distance 6.8km
Time 36:30
Elev gain 38m (not bad for Norfolk!)
Pace 5:22 min/km

Need to get the miles in this year, 2017 was a bit of a dud for me running wise (no PBs unless you count my one and only 10 mile race!). Time to join a running club as I've already entered 2 half marathons (Bungay and Palma).

OK, my stats. I went in to 2017 off my runniest (oh dear) year ever, having got up to regularly running for 2 hrs on trails every weekend. An ankle injury at the end of 2016 and a bicycle crash in Feb 2017 really hindered me this year. I still have issues at the top of my fibula (always tight, can't kneel down (!), I think it alters my gait) and with my posterior tibial tendon (always sore the day after a run). I'm aiming to finally recover from these injuries this year and get back to being able to run 20km in one go rather than over an entire week...

So, 2017 stats:

Distance 354.0 km
Time 32h 16m
Elev Gain 3,511 m
Runs 125

Average run time: 15 mins 30 secs
Average run distance: 2.83 km
Average run climb: 28m (pff)
Average pace: 5:28 per km

looking back through my runs these stats are heavily distorted by the 1 minute run from the bike shed to my office, which for some reason I've been timing! I will have to stop recording that... But I can adjust it crudely by subtracting them from the stats:

Distance 337.2 km
Time 30h 56m
Elev Gain 3,511 m
Runs 43

which means:

Average run time: 43 mins 9 secs
Average run distance: 7.84 km
Average run climb: 81m (run from bike sheds is all downhill!)
Average pace: 5:30 per km

which looks a bit different!

my best run was a probably a snowy adventure in the hills the weekend before I came off my bike:

Initial goal for this year is to get myself running regularly (2-3 times a week, just 5k) with the first 4 weeks of this year. After that, I am off to somewhere on the equator for a week and I really enjoy running in warm weather, so want to make sure i can explore-by-running for that week. After that, back to the UK and try to slowly up the distance, ankle permitting. Probably try to start doing the strength training again to help that out.

Apologies for double post - just separating subjects.

2018 Goals for Smitters

Run 1,610 km
Climb 15,000m

Average 3.0 or more runs per week - stretch of ave 3.5
Go sub 20 at parkrun
Have a running adventure

As ever, long terms goals are sub 20, sub 40, sub 1.30, sub 3, Comrades and a stretch of sub 24/100. However, I would settle for running every other day in beautiful surroundings for the rest of my life.

A really horrible year, with injuries taking their toll from June onwards... didn't think I'd break 2,500 miles but managed it. Well short of the 3,500+ I had in mind.

Distance 2,583.8 mi
Time 334h 20m
Elev Gain 79,016 ft
Runs 442

Average Distance 5.85 miles
Average Time 45.38 mins
Average Elev Gain 178.77ft

2018 aspirations - don't really have any other than shake out some niggles, work out if my dodgy right foot landing position has always been there or if I am compensating for this years knee issues (and in turn causing other problems). My usual sub 3 at London is looking highly unlikely at present but will hopefully get into the 60's in terms of total marathons completed.

58:18 I think. Got beaten by a guy dressed as a shark! The winner did it in 51:00 eek. Really good conditions, it was slippery but the weather was about perfect. I can hardly do anything today sleep

I need to move somewhere hillier - with the exception of the odd weekend away, most of that vert came in 40-50m chunks which is all I can find in the southern flatlands.
