110 with a 6 iron? No chance!
Don't know what it is tbh but if I step on a driver it's ~ 118, course swing is 114 ish, maybe a little higher with a cut swing.
6.5s just work for me, had them in last 3 sets.
My scratch partner has 7.0, he's a freak though!
Joe Miller, plays 7.0 in his irons. They may aswell be rebar! Don't know what it is tbh but if I step on a driver it's ~ 118, course swing is 114 ish, maybe a little higher with a cut swing.

As does Rory
Not many guys on the tour are still using heavy iron shafts. Alot are switching to light weight shafts to crank the distances up.Speaking of Rory. Looks like he's dropped the Nike woods finally. Apparently he's got Taylormade M2's in the bag now. A sign of things to come?

I like them, had the previous 2 generation pro combos but don't like sole on the Vapor combos, it's too wide so bit the bullet and went to the blades. Was a pretty simple switch once I'd had them reshafted and regripped.
Not surprising Rory moving to M series woods, they are streets ahead of anything out there imo, I got the high launch fairways as the standard lofts were too long, big yardage gaps at the top of the bag.

What thats not giving you is the spin numbers. The main reason he's changed. Its reported his driver spin is below 2k. https://twitter.com/NoLayingUp/status/789811949743...

Probably my last round at my current club on Saturday morning. Teed off at 0715h and it was so dark I was interrogating how the ball felt off the clubface to try to guess where it went after it disappeared into the gloom. Thankfully it was straight and after a nervous walk I found it in the fairway. If it had gone anywhere else I'd have lost it I think.
1 birdie, 10 pars, 6 bogeys and a double. 2 veeeeery stooooopid three-putts. No lost balls. I stitched myself up with 3 shots from heavy, wet bunkers that I should have worked harder to avoid. 2 or 3 retrospective 'that was a stupid, greedy, hot-headed shot choice' and 5 or 6 'right shot choice, but insufficient concentration'.
A steady round with a couple of frustrating losses of concentration, and only a couple of those treasured "I know this is close" moments while the ball was in the air.
I've been there for 4 years, but their current 'flexible' membership scheme isn't 'flexible' enough, and I'm not getting to play enough to justify a full membership, so I think I'm going to join the un-collared, be-trainered hordes of pay-as-you-players.
Frustrating situation WRT local memberships at nice clubs. I don't think the industry has got its collective head around the needs/wants of today's casual golfer. The old club model is still relevant for ever-fewer golfers, IMO.
I still want to be affiliated to a club, but if given restricted opportunity to play a membership works out at three times more than the walk-up green fee, then that's just not going to pass muster.

They've arrived!
Titleist 917 D2 9.5* Diamana M+ 60 Stiff x5ct
Titleist 917 F2 18* Diamana S+ 70 Stiff x5ct
Titleist 816 H2 21*Diamana M+ 60 Stiff
Can't wait to use them! Resisting the urge to head to the driving range as I hate range mats.

Interesting read, how much are your membership fees and what's the 'flexible membership'?I've been there for 4 years, but their current 'flexible' membership scheme isn't 'flexible' enough, and I'm not getting to play enough to justify a full membership

Numbers/feedback I've seen here from Titleist loyalists here not great so far.

M1/M2 and the new offering from Cally. Numbers/feedback I've seen here from Titleist loyalists here not great so far.
Only the cally was useable, its a nice club to hit but beyond pig ugly.
The fairway & hybrid are stunning. The driver has a lot to live up to with the G30. Sign's are very positive after 14 holes today. Its a complete flip on noise though compared to the G30, very muted and not like much I've tried before.

So I have paid in full, in advance, for my 100 points, but any I haven't used after 12 months go in the bin.
So over half my money this year has been wasted.
I'm not really complaining, as I knew the rules when I signed up, and I have got what was promised. But however flexible it is, it isn't flexible enough for my needs, so they wont be taking any wages from me next year.
Sadly, I don't have a better local alternative, so pay-as-I-play it will be. Sad.
Im into my second year of golf and really starting to enjoy it now.
At what point on the handicap scale did everyone invest in new clubs?
I only paid 50 quid for my full set of TM R7's but they are starting to show their age now.
Also whats the lowest degree a driver goes to? Thanks to my self taught swing and the ball being dead central between my feet I get ridiculous height off the tee, and probably lose 30 yards due to it, plus the winds in the upper atmosphere play havoc with my scorecard.

Its the playmore.golf scheme. £325 for 100 points. My issue is that due to the birth of another baby, yet another year goes past with not much golf played.

Doesn't sound like you've played much at all, have you managed once a month?

I wouldn't be thinking about a low lofted driver tbh. You're more than likely hitting down with your driver if the ball is in the middle of your stance, meaning you're catching it high on the face (or off the crown) causing it to launch high and not travel very far. At what point on the handicap scale did everyone invest in new clubs?

Most people play driver with the ball somewhere around the inside of the lead foot, to try and encourage an upward, or more level strike. Try that. You might find you get the ball closer to the middle of the club face, with a lower more forward flight on the ball.
