How does a Judo skillset help with BJJ? I have been thinking about dropping down to my local club for a while now, and may have the time to do so now.

Quite a few of the young black belts you see are judo as well! My tutor is Black in Judo and BJJ, Fion Davies for example as well.

Certainly doesn't hinder training.

I'm back kickboxing on Monday next week.

The usual 1hr sessions are now 45mins with the 15mins spent cleaning up and making sure people are mingling in the reception area (because presumably that's more dangerous than slinging sweat at them during the session!).

The bjj is continuing in a similar manner.

No stand up sparring though! furious

That said, I'll take what I can at the moment. Jeez it's going to hurt though laugh

thanks man, I trained judo a lot when I was younger and did a no Gi inter club grappling contest in my forties having not been on a mat for about 15 years!! Still had the balance required if not the fitness!!

I can't see how amateur sparring, grappling, rugby etc. is going to be allowed unless the government/country accepts that the CV19 can just spread without any efforts made to prevent it.

Our club goes back Saturday with fitness sessions only, we have a pro MMA fighter coach who has a fight coming up so some of the lads will be training with him.

We were going to allow grappling with a 'buddy' system but they've had a rethink and this is currently on hold.

How are they squaring it with "social distancing" and meeting friends indoors?

Just seen a photo of my old club rolling/sparring, taken today.

Think its limited numbers, no spectators, temp check etc

Beacause those spectators are sneaky spreaders, passing it to those people grappling together on the floor?

Nah, spectators end up joining in for the tag team, when they see a tap

Solo drills. Stuff like rolls, technical stand up, bridging, break falls, sit outs and what have you. Other clubs (not ours) have grappling dummies we tried using punchbags but it didn't really work, I know GB went all the way through since last year with online classes but no idea of the content and as someone mentioned above plenty of clubs kept training behind closed doors.

From a personal point of view, both me and my son train so we did a bit between ourselves as well as the body movement.
