I think the traditional gi based BJJ is on a steady decline in popularity but as everything seems to be more geared towards MMA now a general hybrid wrestling/no gi bjj/submission grappling style is more and more popular. Certainly in our club we see this more, the no gi classes in various guises are much more popular than the gi based BJJ sessions.

I prefer the no-gi grappling myself.The gi is a finger-destroying hangover from the "Eastern mysticism" of Japanese arts.
