Anybody got any thoughts on the merits or otherwise of fatter grips (for regular clubs, not the putter)? I grabbed one of my playing partner's clubs last week and was amazed at how much more comfortable his fatter grips felt, but I haven't actually tried them for myself.
A pro I was having lessons with suggested fatter grips for me as my old ones were very thin. I'd never really noticed, but with the thicker grips my hand position seems a bit more natural and my striking definitely improved.
Fatter grips are great if your hands are a bit overactive during the swing - for instance my right hand has a habit of taking over on the way through, and adding some tape underneath the bottom half of the grip has quietened it down immensely.
I've got the usual Golf Pride MCC's with two wraps of tape on the bottom hand - the MCC +4's give a similar effect.
Not a fan of them on putters though. They do lock your hands in place well, but I struggle to feel too much through impact.

Interesting to hear you say that about the putter and loss of feel, I've noticed that since going to a Superstroke 3. I've got the usual Golf Pride MCC's with two wraps of tape on the bottom hand - the MCC +4's give a similar effect.

I have a Winn 1.18 putter grip. Not too fat, but nicer than a standard slim one (I do have large hands, though!).
See when I was buying my Scotty they had two Del Mars in the store, one with the standard Pistolero and another that had been fitted with the Winn grip. Couldn't miss with the pistolero, was in possession of an immaculate cow's arse and a banjo with the Winn model. But as ever with this game, it's what works *shrug*

Have never regripped clubs and wondering if it's easy enough to do this without a vice?
It’s a doddle. I do mine over the kitchen sink. Put the grip tape on. Soak the inside of the grip and the tape in white spirit. Slide the grip on and straighten.
No need for a vice at all.
I do it with a vice and it does make it easier. You can get a vice for 12quid from toolstation with a built in table clamp which would work perfectly.
Guys whats the deal with plugged lies on greens? I hit a 6i into a green today and it half-ball plugged. I just marked it repaired and replaced it, is that right? We didnt really know what the rule was.

Spot on.Also, if the marker is accidentally moved whilst the pitchmark is being repaired, no penalty is incurred as long as it is returned to its original position. If in doubt - mark the ball, lift it from its pitchmark, move the marker a putter head to the side (as you would if the marker was on someone's line), repair the damage, move the marker back, etc.

You seem quite salty. One of the all time legends of the game returning from serious injury/time out and holding his own is of course newsworthy for the sport.
Not to mention that TW is the reason a lot of people got into golf in the first place, and still the favourite of many.
OK maybe a bad day. However I still do not get the disproportionate coverage. Not to mention that TW is the reason a lot of people got into golf in the first place, and still the favourite of many.
