Any tips? I've only ever regripped my putter and it was a real pain getting all the residue off from the old grip tape. Did you just cut the old grips off?
Get a hook shaped stanley blade & run it up the length. The glue & tape should all come off relatively easily. Always worth wiping down with Acetone once you've done that to remove any older bits & clean with warm soapy water & then dry with a clean towel. Then get your new grips on using the instructions in the kit below. This is the kit i used & was spot on. Have since done a couple of sets for friends. I'd never pay anyone to re-do my grips again, it's so easy to do! And it gets much easier once you've done your first 1/2 clubs. One thing to note, take your time lining your new grips up on your club. Check, check & check again. Nothing worse than a wonky grip! http://www.adoregolfgrips.com/complete-re-gripping...
The old tape residue on mine came off by just rubbing it. Ooo err.
Brake cleaner works well to get the last of the sticky stuff off.

Came 2nd in our penultimate major yesterday, shooting a 76 for 39 points. Could have been so much better however, had 5 putts hit the hole and stay out, and was 4 over after 3 holes. Was swinging well however, apart from a couple of hooked short irons. Had the confidence to get Driver out on holes I'm normally focused on keeping the ball in play, so rather than threading through the trouble I just flew straight over it.
Definitely think I can shoot around Par before the year is out, just need to keep working on my grip to eliminate the big hooks (left hand is too strong, and I'm struggling to weaken it).

Celtic Manor on Wednesday. 2 nights, 3 rounds.
Excited!
It's bloody cheap too. £246 including a room upgrade. I'm sure they'll take some cash back at the bar though!
Fantastic - only played the Roman Road, but remember it being great fun - and not too challenging, until you get to the greens anyway. Excited!

Anyone see any of the Bridgestone Invitational last night? Matsuyama was out of this world, one of the best displays of ball striking I have seen since Tiger's peak. He's got to be one of the favourites for the US PGA now.
I've played absolutely awful for the last month or so, to the point where I've considered knocking it on the head as I'm so bad it has taken all of the enjoyment of it for me. I just can't seem to strike it consistently anymore, the primary faults being hitting it fat or thin but with misses all over the face. I've gone from playing mid single figures in 2013 to now struggling to keep it under 20, admittedly I've had spells of time off during that but still the decline is ridiculous. I'm currently 50/50 on doing something else or almost starting again and getting some of the fundamental issues in my grip and swing fixed

2nd hand clubs can be fit to your swing. They can bent to the right lie angle, and be extended or shortened to suit. A good pro shop should be able to do it.
The only thing you won't get is a choice to change the shaft unless you're willing to spend more than the cost of the 2nd hand clubs on replacement shafts. TBH, shafts aren't going to make all that much difference, as long as you don't go for some crazy whippy graphite or similar (assuming you swing faster than your average senior golfer).
Landed on these in the end, http://www.thesportshq.com/callaway-strata-12pc-go... they seems decent value for what you get. I did look at used but nothing seemed as good to be honest. And i would of travelled some distance in some i saw,The only thing you won't get is a choice to change the shaft unless you're willing to spend more than the cost of the 2nd hand clubs on replacement shafts. Only issue i have found is they are a tad short, easily sorted i am told. 1st lesson tomorrow and will take it from there.
Look at getting a round or 2 in over the weekend!

Played the RR yesterday. You're right about the greens. The breaks and tiers are brutal in places. I hit what I thought was a perfect shot to the 6th green (the 288yd uphill par 4), got to the green and found my ball had caught the slope off the top tier and run 20 yds to the front fringe.
Lovely course though. Just about to head out on the 2010 now.
Accidentally bought a Ping G30 3 19 º hybrid. What a lovely club. Went and hit a load of balls last night with it and I was amazed how easy it was to hit. The first ball went right and I thought "here we go again.... " but easily managed to sort that out and hit some lovely shaped shots, it seems much easier to hit that a 3/4 iron.
Lessons are definitely the key, I started having some lessons and learning to play golf four years ago to fill up a weekday afternoon or two of my retirement with my cousin and our mates.
During my working life I had played a very occasional round when there was no wind but windsurfing was the passion that took up all of my spare time. At my first golf lesson I think the pro was almost in despair but we persevered and I slowly started getting the hang of it and haven't had a lesson yet this year.
As I only play during the week I haven't done many competitions so the 28 handicap I was given last year has not changed, this year I'm trying to at least do the midweek comps but this is the first one where everything has almost come together properly for me, my previous best score was 37 points so I definitely should get a cut for that performance.
One thing I have worked out though is that golf is a game of constant analysis and adjustment so of course it will all change next week and I will be back to square one again!

If you don't get chopped for 44 points I'd say something is very wrong somewhere - cracking round that is, and congrats
I've been playing but a bit busy with work at the moment, so when I do play my head is either somewhere else or my body is ruined from sitting on planes all week - shot an 83 in the medal with two arms basically made out of lead after flying back from the US the day before. Still hoping to get down to 7 by the end of the season, but am running out of medals now, only got 3 left and an Open at South Staffordshire.
That extra strap I got for my bag is incredible however - really does lighten the bag up immensely. I'm also now on the lookout for a second hand Scotty Cameron - I've always fancied a Del Mar, and I tried one in American Golf on Monday and couldn't miss with it - of course when I went back after work it had sold.
