Champions Cup final is to be played at Newcastle St. James Park.
Has a host city's team ever been in the final ?
Are 'we' getting slightly ahead of ourselves???
No, "we" aren't.
Just curious, never had anything to do with this competition before.
If you ever get the chance to travel ‘abroad’ for these HEC games - yes, HCC or whatever it’s called now - they are generally fabulous weekends away.

The likes of Treviso, Biarritz etc are epic weekends away and well worth following the Comp for!

Enjoy your new found interest beer

Yeah, I got that.
wink

When they announced our group, I tried to get some mates to go to Toulon.
No takers.
Would've been epic with that result.

My original question still stands, has any team played the euro final at home ?

Have a word with your mates!!! They are fabulous weekends - we have had ‘singles’ come along and have fab times meeting new friends with funnily similar hobbies...

For everyone who can't get enough of Haskell's social media (seems unlikely, but maybe someone else is bored at work) there's a podcast with him, the Sky sports guy and guest(s).

The answer as can be seen from above is no. In the main they have used the national rugby stadium of France, Ireland, Wales, Scotland & England. With other Stadia also used.

However you could argue that Wasps, Cardiff and Stade Francais had home games as the stadium was at least in the city they hailed form.

I reckon Wasps are a bit of a tenuous link, but given the choice, I expect Cardiff and Stade would've moved their home fixtures for a match like that to the national stadium at the time anyway, given that both were literally right next door, shared the same parking, etc, and had all of their home facilities right there. The only real change would've been the larger seating capacity and the opportunity to make a bit more money. smile

I think the 99 final that Ulster won was due to be at Ravenhill, but seeing the extra capacity that Lansdowne Rd offered when they made the final made the switch to a different home logical

This is the current rumour doing the rounds. Big salary being talked about. But then Bristol seem to get linked with all sorts of players by agents presumably. I'll believe it when I see it.

Agreed on both counts.

Even as a Quins fan I couldn't see why Brown was at FB, let alone on the wing. His pace isn't what it was a few years ago & he's got a tendency to lose discipline when things aren't going his way. On a similar note - sad to see Christian Wade leaving the game. Closest anyone's come to my hero, Jason Robinson in the last few years, IMHO & crazy that the premiership's 3rd highest try scorer has 1) One cap & 2) left the game.

Agreed re Mike Brown but it was time for him to go. A back 3 of Nowell, May and Daly (from Eddie's current squad) looks stronger than one with Brown in it.

Brown makes eye catching runs but you know he'll hardly ever pass the ball and runs straight into contact, often gets isolated and turned over or holds on. When he does pass it usually goes to ground.

It actually looks like we have a decent lineup from 10-15, it's the pack that is giving far more cause for concern, especially now Lawes is injured for the weekend. Cole and Marler gone so we will have inexperienced props and I'm not sure that a dancing No.8 is the right answer to the monster Saffer he'll be up against. Looks like Itoje and Kruis second row, hopefully Kruis is back to form. We'll miss Launchbury never mind the Vunipolas.

I'm not optimistic.

Is Genge going to play? He looks like he's got a lot of potential.

There might be a clue there!
