More that he's 'green' at international standard. Running riot against Worcester or London Irish is not the same as being a test-standard 10. Surely even with your Harlequin-tinted glasses you would admit that?
I'm not sure that a trip to SA, up against the best pack and defence in the world, is the place to be blooding a lightweight, young 10? He'll likely be a shoo-in for the next tour if he continues on this trajectory, and I'd love to see him take the Aussie defence apart.
I think I'm maybe more guilty of thinking in an England rather than Lions environment to be honest.I'm not sure that a trip to SA, up against the best pack and defence in the world, is the place to be blooding a lightweight, young 10? What happens if Ford gets injured? Farrell isn't an international-standard FH, as how proved yet again against Scotland, and Eddie hasn't blooded anyone else, has he?
Russell could be amazing, but especially against the Boks, could completely implode. Sexton will pick up an injury as soon as anyone in the front 10 rows of the stands sneezes.... Who else is truly world class?

Tough picking a first-choice 10/12/13 combo out of that jumble though.

8 1/2 minutes in and we've lost a player to a stupid red card.
I'm going to bed!
But nearly won it!I'm going to bed!
All the red cards are frustrating at the moment, but players need to adjust their game. Hopefully it'll settle down pretty quickly.
When are players (well, forwards!) going to adapt their play to avoid the stupid bull-dozing upright body charges and start tackling again?
Every single one of the red cards this weekend has been a brain-dead forward trying to intimidate / hurt an opponent rather than tackle & every single one was deserved. And that's from a supporter of one of the teams suffering as a result.

What a match in Brentford!
Brilliant entertainment! Can't be too sad, I'd have taken a losing bonus point draw before the start of the game.

Looking back on this weekend's red-fest, and I think that the officials managed to get almost every big decision correct.
The only line of defence seems to centre around "What else is he supposed to do?", which isn't moving the game on any. The answer is that a player needs to be thinking clearly about his intentions in any contact, and be in complete control of his body. Going back to that paltry defence suggests that the skills coaches aren't doing their job if the players consider an upright hit with a tucked arm to be the right decision.
The only blot on the refereeing copybook was the DuPreez yellow for Sale - that should have been a red too.
For me that's the most moronic of them all. The ball is at the 9's feet, the defender was in a passive guard position, and DuPreez has absolutely no hope of influencing the outcome of the next phase of play. He's clearly trying to exert a bit of physicality upon an influential opponent (who was running Sale ragged), and it makes him look like an absolute wally - not least because he quite clearly walloped him in the head.
I'd have given him a red card for idiocy had I been calling that game.

My understanding was just that. It was dealt with at the time by the referee so no citing.
Iy appears that I was wrong...
