Bristol are more than capable of shopping a few point though don't forget! They have been the standard bearers for the ball in hand attacking rugby for most of the season.
Bristol are also very capable of shutting out games by being very physical and defensively tight. I don't think Quins have an answer for this right now. Looking at the tries they conceded at the weekend, you could see the Bristol backline having a field day if the forwards can beat them up a bit.

All that said, both Bristol-Quins games have been close affairs this season. Oddly, of the three other teams in the semis, Bristol are the most beatable for Quins based on their style of play. Which is perverse consider they are top.

But you'd hope that knockout rugby could help focus the Bristol gameplan somewhat.

Phew. Close one at Leicester today. And at Irish too. Truly last minute drama at both!

How the crap did Irish throw that away?

Saw the first half - went out for my second jab and didn't even bother checking the result; thought it was a foregone conclusion!

Quite the contrast, wasn't it! Wasps showing how we'd like every game to end, and Bristol showing how we'd like no game ever to do so!

I'd assume Nathan Hughes is looking at a ban for the handbags after the final whistle... Will he make it back this season, do we think?

Shockingly poor refereeing by Tempest in not awarding a penalty try, and surely World Rugby need to review the rule that allows for Bristol's "punishment" for repeated scrum infringements to be bringing back on a much stronger prop to see the game out.

I think Borthwick will look back at it and be disappointed he didn't look one step ahead of Lam and his underhand attempt at influencing the last play . If Borths had let Lam stick to his story, that Afoa was injured, Briz would have no LHP to bring on, it would have gone to uncontested scrums, but Briz would have to drop to 13 players.
Tigers should then elect to go for an uncontested scrum play using their backs, or tap and go penalty and use their 2 man advantage.

Exeter fan living in Northampton checking in, terrible first half, much improved second. I must admit to being quite pleased to see Courtney Lawes substituted.

I think Tom Youngs has more to worry about than Hughes to be honest. Did you hear his 4 letter riddled outburst to Tempest? It's all recorded via the ref mike. Sinkler got cited for a lot less against Exeter.

I thought Bristol did well at the end. Afoa did a job on Genge and Uren reacted quicker than Wigglesworth. Leicester have only themselves to blame, they chose to scrummage after all.

With regard to replacing a carded prop, what alternative is there bearing in mind player safety? The punishment is playing with 14 men.

Youngs outburst was after the game had finished though, whilst Sinks was during play.
Similarly, Hughes who had been subbed, got involved in the handbags on the pitch, something that last season got Harry Williams a 2nd yellow leading to a 2 week ban.

It'll be interesting to see how much, if anything, is done about all this.

No, I haven't, and I guess there's still stuff to play for in Leicester's season! I still think Sinkler was very unlucky to be pinged for that though. It can't be easy being reffed by someone who was your teammate for 100-odd games at the best of times, and in a normal season with crowds in, I doubt anyone would've even heard him.

The problem is that it clearly wasn't a punishment to Bristol on the day!

Maybe the answer would be to say that any pack conceding a scrum yellow inside their own 22 automatically concede a penalty try as well?

Are you seriously suggesting abusing the ref with several F words is acceptable after the final whistle but not whilst the game is in progress??

Hughes, of course had not received a card, unlike Williams. I doubt much will come of it bearing in mind the numbers involved.

I don't see that as an answer to be honest. It will just encourage more collapsed scrums with props trying to con the ref. Genge did this quite well a couple of times on Saturday. Not with Afoa though!

No, I'm just saying the game had finished I don't think the ref can deal with it, but citing commissioner may.
If you listen to refmic at games, there's a lot of cursing and advice to the ref.

Jack Adams, former Gloucester centre, has died aged only 34.

Diagnosed with cancer mid April. Notified late last week that treatment had not been successful. Leaves behind a wife and three kids.

Watched him play at Kingsholm. Powerful lad. But it's the speed at which the disease progressed that has shaken me. Reminds me of Justayellowbadge.

His poor family. Absolutely gutted for them.

woohoo

Plans cancelled for the weekend, and off to Ashton Gate for me and my youngest!! biggrinbiggrin

Having initially said that there would probably be a ballot for the 500 available seats for Quins season ticket holders, I'm bloody glad I saw the email they sent out saying "we've changed our minds... click on the special link we'll email you at 4pm, then first come, first served", as they seem to have all sold in 3 minutes flat!! smile

First semi-final in a decade isn't a bad match to have as our first ever Quins away game!

See you there!

Train, plane or automobile?

Oh, and it will be noisy.

Knocking off early on Friday to collect the boy from school and drive down, as he'll want to be at my brother in law's in time to watch England play football on Friday evening. Having a relative in Bristol is very convenient! Exeter would've been manageable as well, but I would've been stuffed had it been Sale! biggrin

I'm a ST holder but will be in the (relatively) cheap seats. Glad you have a local to guide you. Should be a great occasion. Hope you appreciate the Bristolian culture featuring the Wurzels.

Capacity for the final has now been halved. 10000 tickets already sold will be refunded. Glad I didn't take a punt and buy early.
