Yep, proper thrashing. You're right - really can't get much worse! Tragic really with some of the talent we have - Underhill, Cokanasiga, Faletau etc.
I looked at your team sheet and on paper it looked pretty good. However something is very wrong if that many talented players can get so comprehensively beaten.
Faletau, brilliant player but injuries/internationals have reduced his impact at Bath and off at the end of this season

Cokanasiga, injury situation has been even worse

No idea why Mercer was allowed to leave, The Eddie Jones effect (apprentices, what was that all about??) didn't help. I watched a few bit of the podcasts the has done recently, not all of them admittedly but when asked about Premiership options I don't think he ever mentioned a Bath return

Cipriani, I get he is a huge talent but just wasteful! I didn't see what he could bring unless there was some long term coaching role plan, that hasn't happened so either it was a waste of time signing an unreliable player of his age or the long term plan has failed (which is just as likely to be the current management set up's fault as his)

Watson situation is quiet, think he may be off frown
Seems likely

In a world of tightening salary caps, 10 games a season from Watson's salary looks like poor ROI. No surprise at all.

I've been thinking (stewing maybe) on this Bath performance for a couple of days.

Where is the leadership? Nobody has any fear of letting anybody down . Faz has his detractors but we desperately need someone like him to come in and tell players they are playing unacceptably stly when they are. There seems to be no fear of consequences "come to Bath, its a lovely city and you don't have to try that hard".

NB Just caught up with the Wasps Irish game. That was a fun game!

Munster unlucky this afternoon, horrible way to go out really. Heard a few people moaning about the switch away from Thomond Park being the difference, but I’d always expect Munster to turn up for European knock-out rugby wherever the location. Toulouse scrape though again…

Leinster looking a bit more composed, but still plenty of rugby to play in this second half

As this game started thought Glasgow were gonna get walked over but they’re making a game of it.

Well looks like the USA has got the '31 RWC. From a marketing/experience perspective this to be huge news

Good luck to them, maybe worth a holiday over there

Glad the "Roses" have 2025, they might even fill HQ at the rate they are going

I see Christian Wade has left the Buffalo Bills.

I'm sure he could do a job for a Premiership team.

I've always had him in the same bracket as Johnny May. A very average rugby brain, but incredibly fast.

...and I think that May may have a few braincells capable of defence

I really don't think so.

In fact, I'd say he was the player with the lowest 'rugby IQ' to ever reach 50 caps.

If Ashton had played 6 more games he’d be the owner of that epithet

not convinced about that. Love him or hate him Ashton does have an excellent nose for the whitewash

Agreed. Ashton might not be a very willing defender, but he's an exceptionally savvy operator with and without the ball in attack.

His supporting running lines mark him a significant cut above May in 'rugby IQ' stakes. By contrast May just runs, very fast, like a headless chicken.

Shame, he had great potential as a running back, scored that great touchdown in a pre-season game (albeit against a 3rd level defence) and was popular with fans. From his instagram feed, he was having the time of his life in the US, including the marrying the Amercia's Top Model girlfriend he met out there.

Perhaps he was a bit old to pick up the subtle skills of the game and the position to progress further than the training squad, found it hard to learn the playbooks, and I'm sure a recent shoulder injury didn't help.

Not sure if he will return to UK, particularly to play rugby, maybe see him joining Alex Corbisiero on the US Rugby show?

Delighted with the Leinster performance this afternoon, although Toulouse not the same team as last year. Loss of Kolbe in particular seemed noticeable

Will be interesting to see who gets through the other semi tomorrow, although playing a French side in France in the final won’t be easy

Why did I not know / remember Stuart Lancaster is Leinster coach?

He's doing a grand job.

He certainly is doing a great job, and I believe it does like working over here. Very well respected in Leinster circles

Lancaster came in back in 2016 at the request of Cullen, who is officially head coach. I think LC is really the equivalent of what elsewhere would be known as the Director of Rugby, and SL a senior coach. The pair of them have been the dream coaching combination ever since

A quick Wikipedia suggest he is one of their coaches, nominally "Senior Coach".

As you say, Cullen is "Head Coach".

Still, I hadn't realised / remembered that's where he was.
