Leinster played so well yesterday. Described as a "blue wave" by a French commentator.

Really excellent effort by every single player and staff.

A final versus La Rochelle would be interesting. But I can't see Leinster losing now.

It’s very much theirs to lose now

Just back from the soulless mausoleum that is Twickenham.

Such a terrible shame that we Quins fans were robbed of the atmosphere that comeback would've created as our last home game of the season, but I guess there must be some very bemused Glaws fans, coaches and players heading back down the M4 round about now!

...and sat at home.

It's a return to a few seasons ago, which led to the phrase "Gloucestering it" - meaning; throwing away a big first half lead by playing like a completely different team in the second.

To be fair to Gloucester, today was far from the biggest lead conceded to Quins since Gustard was binned! smile

Bought Premiership final tickets, plus parking from official outlet a few years ago. Rocked up to the official parking to be told " not enough space - you didn't get here early enough - find your own parking - doesn't matter if you've paid for it"

Never, ever, ever going back.

I wouldn't go if Quins weren't playing, but I wouldn't miss it if they are! smile

I go to a game of rugby to see a game of rugby. Yes, have a drink. Yes, eat my bacon sandwich that I brought with me.

I do not want music, or bands, or singers, or owt. Does anybody change their mind about going, and decide to go because they have got Craig Douglas playing? These bands have all got to be paid for! I thought rugby clubs were short of money and losing money?

A cold bacon sandwich is one of the saddest things known to humanity. frown

Other than that, I fully agree, although I was briefly intrigued until I realised you'd written owt, not owl!

The first problem with that plan is that the Stoop has sold out for every home game this season, so unless they hold every game at Twickenham, where exactly are they supposed to put these new fans?

Secondly, I'm really not sure it will capture new fans! The actual viewing experience at Twickenham is woeful compared to the Stoop, and the fact that there was a Mexican frigging wave going on yesterday (especially with the result still in the balance) suggests that the overwhelming majority there were just on a random day out, and got bored with the actual rugby.

Lastly, the response from members seems to be pretty much universally negative. Does it really make sense to annoy your most loyal followers?

Like you I go for the game and have fun with mates. Some bloke I’ve heard of but probably wouldn’t know if I heard their music wouldn’t make me want to go if I was in two minds. Probably the reverse if I’m completely honest.

I know Jack Walkers family. Played rugby with his dad in North Yorkshire and would love to see him live but getting to The Stoop or Twickenham is a full weekend job.
Other than that it’s Newcastle or Sale.
It’s tough being a rugby fan in the Far East Yorkshire. Southerners don’t know how lucky they are. smile

So what on earth is happening with the Welsh Rugby regions and the WRU.

Am hearing a genuine idea that Osprays and Scarlets merge?

It feels like we have amateurs in the WRU trying to deal with the pro game. If this goes wrong then it could be decades until Wales are a power source again.

Could be worse...Scotland has been down to 2 full-time, pro teams for years.

But those two teams are doing (reasonably) well.

Is that necessarily worse though?

By the look of the URC table, both the Scottish teams will be in the Champions' Cup next season, whereas if there are any Welsh teams in there, they're only there by virtue of being the best of the Welsh teams, not on their own merit.

I first discovered rugby as a student in Wales in the late eighties, but even as an Englishman, it was immediately obvious how some of the great clubs - Llanelli, Neath, Newport, Ponypridd, Pontypool, Bridgend, Swansea, Cardiff etc - had the sort of loyal following that most religions would kill for!

That just seems to have been utterly destroyed by the decision to move towards regions, and I completely understand it! If I look at English rugby, so much of the fan investment is based around derby matches - Quins vs Wasps (although not so much now!) or Sarries, Bath vs Glaws or Bristol, Tigers vs Saints, etc. Would that survive moving to South East Stockbrokers, South West Farmers, Midlands Miners or whatever? I suspect not.

Thank again, I feel no emotional attachment to the B&I Lions whatsoever as I view myself as English rather than British, so what do I know? hehe

Brilliant from La Rochelle. Exciting finish and 3 tries to none.
Well done the French!!

I'd be interested in an analysis of how La Rochelle snuffed out Leinster's threat and countered with their own. Leinster even had a crucial period of the game with a man advantage and couldn't seem to take hold of it. Even if they won by the skin of their teeth, La Rochelle seemed to deserve it

According to a mate who knows these things LR’s forwards snuffed out Leinster. They dominated them at the set pieces.
