Agreed. Nothing at all like Mortimer and Whitehouse nor is it trying to be. It’s more like Portillo's Great railway journeys.

That's a good analogy

Yes I would agree that’s a better comparison.

The point I was trying to make related more to the style of filming and cinematography.

To me it seemed like they are looking to produce the same look and feel to the scenes and especially the drone shots.

Of course the cinematography of the BBC is always a very high standard to reach.

Hi all.

New to this thread so go easy.

I am an enthusiastic fishing amateur. Live north London.

Go 1-2 a year and want to do more.

Off fly fishing tomorrow down in Guildford.

Would appreciate some ideas for decent trout (and pike / perch) spots in North London (and Home Counties / Essex).

Ideally idilic, quiet and open to river or pond / lake.

The river Wandle now has a good head of brown trout. It you live in London or nearby I’d recommend you join the The Wandle Piscators.

It does, as well as masses of coarse fish - quite “urban” fishing though.

Robin’s Wood iirc. Great in the winter. Not so good in summer due to lack of oxygenation

That just makes a day on the river even better, it’s not all about the fishing.

Sad news today about the death of Nick Fisher aged only 63yo, I always enjoyed watching him on Sreaming Reels all those years ago.

Lovely picture ; my fly fishing has been minimal since mid June because of low flows , so coarse fishing , especially light lure fishing, has been dominant. The area of the river I fish has wonderful bird life with kingfishers, curlews and egrets common , and the unusual sight (for N Yorkshire ) of up to five red kites at once. And , at dusk , the amazing sight of a starling murmuration with ,I'd guess, 10,000 or more birds making shapes in the sky .

Here's a rubbish shot of a big perch from this autumn

Yep we have switched to coarse fishing on our stretch of river too as the season changed.

We are still getting some nice chub, and of course some of the brownies pop up too as they must like a bit of bread too!
