hales got 90 off 35 odd balls the other day so is in amazing form. he should play somewhere against the WI

opening and 3 we need, so root can stay at 4. happy with the rest of the team,

Rashid has to go - leg spinners very handy in Aus. Need plenty of seamers as i suspect we'll get a few injuries. Leach from Somerset an outside pick as a third spinner.

Hales scored 200 yesterday but batted at 5! May be a sign that England aren't considering him as an opener. Maybe a potential middle order bat though?

Need a second keeper, Buttler maybe although not sure his batting has survived all the T20 mayhem

Ballance & Jennings? No thanks - "go back and work on your technique boys". I would look for a properly talented youngster to take to Aus - blooding him for the next tour. Not sure who though. Westley worries me with his complete lack of offside shots, but maybe he can fix that.

Stoneman should come in for WI & see if he's got that test match presence

team for 1st test at the Gabba

Cook
Stoneman?
Root
Hales
Stokes
Bairstow
Mooen
Woakes
Rashid
Broad
Anderson
Swap Moeen and Woakes, and I think that's it

Really? I've always thought of Woakes as a bowler who could bat, and Moeen as a batsman who could bowl. It's a bit more complicated than that, I know, especially with Moeen's recent form with the ball, but it's just my opinion.

That's a good eleven. Good enough to take on any team. What a middle order! If Hales fails, the opposition sees Stokes striding to the crease, and then if he goes cheaply, they've still got to watch a succession of quality players take his place. It would be demoralising.
