A good day today. Hopefully we can crack on tomorrow morning and put the game out of South Africa's reach, although as pointed out post stumps on Sky, if England are going to crack on tomorrow we're not really going to make progress with Cook and Ballance at the crease. They would, however, both benefit from a decent innings - I can't say that I'm a fan of Ballance, and I'm a bit surprised to see him back, but if he can justify his place then all's well.
Not sure Ballance has made a convincing case in this match.

Anyway - how many is going to be enough, I would guess 320 ish should be ok. Especially as the pitch seems to be a contest.

Lost a few wickets too quickly, need this pair to dig in a little.

Are we just proving to the Saffers how treacherous the pitch is?

An English batting collapse. How old school.

South Africa have a mini one too.

3 down for 25 runs.

Amla needs a big one here to save them

Sure, only another 240 needed for the last wicket.

It is now.

Pretty brain dead from SA today. Shouldn't have taken England wickets. Root might have batted until tea and then they could have prayed for rain and played for a draw... smile

Good bowling today. Good result.

What a performance from Moeen! Some poor batting by South Africa, but they're not noted for coping well with spin, and they looked mesmerised by Moeen and Liam Dawson.

More of the same at Trent Bridge? No Rabada, who was nasty to that nice Ben Stokes chap, Du Plessis and Morris back, and they might be without Philander as well.

More good news: England Women beat Australia, and Luke Fletcher has been released from hospital after that rather nasty injury in last night's T20.

A good day for English cricket.

Oh Jimmy, Jimmy,
Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Anderson

ETA, he's got a Michelle, Saffers all out for 335, which is probably about par.

We need to show that we've learned from watching the Saffers bat, they were good for much of yesterday.

Cook's a funny one - Mr Steady generally but then at times does that.

Definitely need another Captain's innings to steady the ship now.

(I'm a fan of Ballance too - which is the KoD for him smile).
