Looking good.

It's very easy to see why non-cricket fans switch on to the short game.
Or even cricket fans. Ive long preferred ODi cricket to test cricket, for me 50 overs is the right length for a bit of strategy and subtlety and action leading to a result. I even like T20.

For NZ tests I'd really shake it up and combine test and one day team

Hales
Roy
Stoneman
Root
Bairstow (wicketthingy)
Stokes
Malan
Woakes
Broad
Crane
Anderson

Dropping Cook, Vince and Moeen Ali.

I think that medium pace bowling attack will do well in NZ, give Crane more experience on the slower side of things.

That batting line up is more firm at the very top than it has been up to now.
Drop our best batsman from the Ashes to 7? Madness.

I am one of Jason Roy's biggest fans but both Roy & Hales would last 5 minutes opening in test matches.

They are both great strikers of the ball when the bowlers have to bowl in a certain slot but not when the ball is fizzing around their ear holes.

Totally different games. I like them all for different reasons (though am less of a fan of T20...).

8/5. Did the test coaches step in for today?

I'm guessing Morgan and Root won't be framing that scorecard for the wall....

One of the things we have to accept if playing the short game aggressively is that sometimes it will just go belly up. Completely buggered the chance of a whitewash in the first few overs.

I was disappointed that after that brilliant start, it was just a regular defeat - I switched off when England got past 100.

Poor Ben has had to take a pay cut. Still it’s not bad for 6 or 7 weeks work.

Well the one days have provided some credibility but the main event was a shocker.

Agreed.

And whilst I get it's a different game, it is frustrating.

Morgan a more freewheeling captain. Allows people to perform.

Root has inherited Cooks team.. needs time to free the guys to play.

I genuinely think it is a belief / confidence things.

Guess not then ...

105/3 after 11 overs

9 to come - Buttler and Malan batting.

Par must be 200

Looking for 215 as a great score
