Fair enough! Still looks like a pretty pointless made up sport that no doubt results in hip/knee replacement @40
Moguls are most definitely not a made up thing! Have you ever been skiing?Moguls are basically humps made on a piste by many skiers making turns. It doesn't happen as much naturally like it used to as pistes are groomed most nights so they don't get the chance to become 'moguled.'
Obviously for things like the Olympics, the mogul runs are man made. And I can assure you I would not want to ski down that run ever!

When did they change the biathlon rules? I thought if they missed a st, they had to do a lap of a penalty track, but now it looks like they're just adding on a minute to their time?
They do - it's a 150m lap for every missed shot. Perhaps they're just not showing it on the telly?Andy 308GTB said:

That Russian girl in the mixed curling doesn't half look like Angelina Jolie.

When I watched it this week, the competitors went down tracks on the jump ramp. One ski nicely located in each track.
This looked much easier than the last time I watched it. OK so that was 30 years ago and a certain Eddie the Eagle Edwards was grabbing the limelight, but the competitors then had to get themselves lined up all the way down the sheet of ice that covered the entire ramp, without the help of guide tracks. That seemed to be at least part of the skill of ski-jumping.
So are these tracks a standard thing now in ski-jumping?

Not had a chance to get into this until last night. Sat down to watch the BBC highlights from day 1, and for Christ sake it's appalling. They took 10 minutes before actually showing any action, and then it was only 40 seconds of speed skating. And afterwards it was only a few minutes of action and a lot of inane babble. Hoping the highlights programme improves other wise I won't bother.
Don't mean it as beeb bashing as I've enjoyed their coverage at previous games (despite the awful Balding woman), I just wish their "highlights" programme included more highlights!

Not sure about day 1, but there have been a few highlights programmes a bit short of highlights because of some of the ski events being postponed due to high winds.Don't mean it as beeb bashing as I've enjoyed their coverage at previous games (despite the awful Balding woman), I just wish their "highlights" programme included more highlights!

I think they must be, from the interweb:When I watched it this week, the competitors went down tracks on the jump ramp. One ski nicely located in each track.

Cut tracks, first frost rail then porcelain rail, were introduced in the 1980's primarily for summer jumping and training.
