Are all Motocaddy trolleys lithium powered now? Looking at their website is no help. They don't even confirm that any battery is included.
I think they're all Lithium now.

My golf partner forgot to charge his one after the previous 18 we played but on Saturday still managed to get to the 16th tee before it died on him.
This was a second hand trolley he bought on a local Facebook buy and sell page so their 18 hole batteries are more than capable if you use it conservatively!

Morning all, I'm in the market for a Electric Golf Trolley, I've been carrying for years, and with a-lot of golf coming up next year the Mrs has said i can treat myself, lucky me!.

Anyway... my budget is £400 give or take, I am happy to wait a few months for a good deal (if they exist??? or wheat time of year they appear??)

Im currently looking at the Motocaddy S1 which looks like it could be in my budget if theres a sale on?

Any one offer any advice?

Cheers all!
Are you a member of a club that rents out electric trolleys?

My club sells theirs off every so often for £250 and replaces them. They’re S1s that aren’t particularly old and always look in decent condition.

I’d imagine other clubs do the same.

I'm not a member of a club but rather a society, so we have lots of society games all around the midlands, and annual tour away etc. cheers

One of the courses I'm a member of (The Chase in Huntington, just outside Cannock) are offering a free Motocaddy Bag and £50 off an S3 Pro until the end of December.

I also finally moved on from carrying this season as it wasn't doing my back any good, and after 25 years I think I can safely say I've given it a good go smile I went for a MotoCaddy Cube push trolley, and it's been great. Still get a decent workout on the way round, but without the back pain in the evening.

So you can still get the S1 with both a Lead Acid and Lithium battery, the price difference is quite considerable (£100 extra for Lithium), can anyone who has owned both comment on whether the extra £100 is worth it?

Cheers

Pal who plays off 2 swears by Dunlop Tour Softs. I switched to them and can't honestly tell any difference between them and any other soft ball. They're so cheap you practically buy them by the pound.
My friend used to shoot level par with Pinnacle Golds which wound people up. There is an adjustment to be made around the greens compared to urethane, but the pay off is extra distance and less curve on bad shots.

After years of using DP1-V3 dunlops, I'm moving to Tour Soft next year as I need the distance :-/

My Motocaddy has a 36 hole lithium and it's fantastic. Such a difference having a lighter trolley and it runs and runs. I don't play 36 holes but I zig zag a lot up 18. I doing the view that having the comfort of extra run time would dave me stressing over those all important 3rd putts.

I wouldn't consider anything other than a lithium battery these days.

Just come into a Ping G5 22deg 4 hybrid. Never had anything like this before but I'm hoping it will be a useful addition to the bag. Does anybody now roughly how far it should go?

A bit further than the 5, but not quite as far as the 3? smile

Seriously though, it all depends how bad the shot was, how important the match was, how cross you are, your technique, one-handed or two-handed, under-arm or over-head, how much energy you have left, your starting trajectory, local terrain, and exactly how hard you fling the fking thing.

Made me chuckle when Phil said "How about closest to the pin for a hundred?", Tiger replied "A hundred K?", Phil said "Yep"

Anywhere from about 160-230. But probably somewhere around the 180-200 mark. That how far mine goes if I hit it well and depending on roll out.

I was at the range last night hitting my TM 4 hybrid and with range balls, i was consistently hitting it around the 210 yards (3rd practice green away from the mats). To be honest, its the first time i have really used it as I only picked it up 2 weeks ago when I went back to SA and in the 4 rounds I played there, I hit it once!

It was really nice playing back on my home course in SA. x2 rounds of 84 followed by a 79 and then a 77. Its a 7,000 yard par 73 course. My HC was immediately chopped from 9.8 to 8.5!

Is golf an accessible sport? I just moved next a course and fancied it might be a nice way to spend sundays, but the membership criteria seems a bit freemasons. 2 proposers of 5 years standing, shirts must be tucked into trousers.... I don't think I can really sustain this kind of thing with best will in the world, so is it the bowls club for me or is this just posturing I can ignore, and play on my terms?

Find courses locally that are more relaxed. The dress code is pretty much a given, although some courses dont care.... I started playing in jeans at my local course but I wouldnt wear jeans to go there now.

If you just want occasional golf, join a society rather than a club. They’re usually much more relaxed and you get to play lots of courses.
