What putters are you guys using ?
I've currently got...Odyssey Pro Type #9
Odyssey Marxman Backstryke
Yes Callie
Cleveland Classic #1
Cleveland Classic #10
Cleveland SmartSquare
Wilson Infinite Grant Park
Wilson Infinite Southside
Owned and sold many others too!
I've told myself to stop buying putters because despite which ever one I buy I always end up going back to the Odyssey Backstryke. If you can put up with the unconventional looks it is brilliant. It may be due to my swing but no other putter that I've tried puts a roll on the ball like the Backstryke. Very forgiving on off centre hits and distance control is ridiculously easy with it.

With a cheap Wilson putter that came with the old set I have, it almost feels like I am swinging a brick on a piece of string, just no feel between hand and end of putter.
Had some nice long putts, but more luck I am sure.
I tend to overhit due to having no feel.
I don’t mind spending if need be ( wife won’t know) but it seems there are so many out there and 150 is middle of the range!
Currently got a Scotty Cameron California Del Mar cut down an inch to 34 inches - I've got an old fashioned arced putting stroke so put best with putters with all the weight in the toe. I used to use a properly old skool Putter, a Wilson 8802 copy, but wanted something slightly more forgiving. Found the Scotty in a 2bd band rack in American Golf for £130, tried it in store and couldn't miss, and I'm glad to report that has carried on on the course too.With a cheap Wilson putter that came with the old set I have, it almost feels like I am swinging a brick on a piece of string, just no feel between hand and end of putter.

It's probably worth finding a decent fitter round by where you are who can advise what sort of Putter will work best for you - there is a lot of variety out there, and finding one that fits can save you 5 to 10 shots a round, easily. That's how many extra I take with an Anser / mallet style Putter anyway lol.

I’ve got one of these. I took a punt on it second hand. It was for sale locally for £100. If I didn’t like it I’d have at least got my money back, if not a bit more.
The old Ping Anser I had was too light. I couldn’t judge long putts at all. Anything outside 20 feet was risking three stabs. It was also too short for me.
The Scotty has much more weight in the head, and has the longer dual balance shaft. You’re supposed the grip down it to
Make use of the counter balancing, but I find it better to grip at the top due to my height.
I think my putting improved when I got it. Not because it “performs” better but because I love the look and feel of it, and that inspires confidence.
In 30 plus years of playing, I've only ever owned 3 putters -
an original Bullseye (so unforgiving);
a Wilson TPA (loved it and still have it in the garage);
one of the early Odyssey 2-ball jobbies (still going strong);
The only other putter I've picked up in the past 10 years which felt right from the get-go was a Scotty Cameron X5 Futura - perfect lie and perfect balance.

Great feedback on the putters you guys are using, certainly food for thought.
Just went and measured my existing putter, it always feels way too long, and it measures 35 1/2 ", (I am only 5-9.)
Last week I returned an ebay Ping TR putter because it was too long and there was no adjustment tool with it (or anywhere for sale in the UK as far as I could tell). Long putters feel horrid. Sticking with the Cleveland Smart Square, as mentioned by Noodle above. Just went and measured my existing putter, it always feels way too long, and it measures 35 1/2 ", (I am only 5-9.)
As a diddy person, who putts somewhat crouched over, I set-to my long-time favourite Odyssey Two-Ball with a hack saw.
People literally laugh when they pick it up now.
I don't think there's much value in following the orthodoxy with putting, as long as you're doing the basics right, and you're comfortable and confident. If it works, it works.
(don't copy me, I'm fking useless at putting)

Mrs B and I are off to the Isle of Skye in spring (before the midges arrive hopefully). Has anybody ever played at the Isle of Skye Golf Club in Sconser? Was thinking of sneaking the sticks into the boot underneath Mrs B's copious luggage.

A nice 18 hole half day today, first time for weeks that the whole course has been open.
Managed 4 pars and a birdie3 much to my and my mates astonishment.
Then threw in 2 x 9 shots, 2 x 11 shots and a few 7's.
Trying to beat the course rather than play it.
Was 50 yards from the pin for 2 shots on the long 18th, hit a bunker with a wayward pitch and finished with 11, my head just went.
What a game this golf thing is though.

I'm very interested in the Stability putter shafts that are getting a lot of exposure in the US right now. Like the concept.
$199 bucks and you need to send your putter off to the US manufacturer too so might have to wait a bit for mine.

First time picking up the clubs in 2 weeks yesterday and I played "not bad".
+3 on the outward 9 until I came to the 9th - double bogey and its a poxy Par 3 but I found the water - so ended up +5.
Inward 9 was a lot better and shot a +3 (1 birdie, 4 bogeys) - so +8 for the 18 holes.
Perhaps I should only play every 2 weeks in future! hahahahaha

Off to play at Littlestone this friday for a friend's birthday/weekend away.....the weather looks "interesting" to say the least....
How did you get on at Littlestone? A local course to me (I play at Rye).Littlestone is great.
Putting/chipping could definitely have done with some improvement (not used to bump and running!) but managed to get in with 28 points - when you take driver then a very well struck driver off the deck and still don't reach a 370yd par-4 you know you're in trouble! (I'd be driving 290yds in summer....). Another highlight was a driver off the 165yd par 3 17th......
Think the flag that I'm right next to will attest to how windy it was!
