DeChambeau is horrible to watch. I hope we don't see others trying to emulate what he does with one length, one lie angle irons, fat grips and holding it like he's putting. It's not proper golf

I hate watching him too, but he’s effective.

I don’t think you’re going to see many people try to copy him. I haven’t seen one person on a course with a set of one length irons yet, and they’ve been available for a while now.

Kids on the range are all trying to swing it like Rory or Rickie. No one is trying to look robotic like Bryson.

He probably could have been just as good swinging a Club conventionally given the amount of time and effort he must have put in developing his style.

Why not, surely the Golf snobs aren't now trying to dictate how people swing and their choice of clubs. As for "robotic" - nonsense.

Mate, that strike pattern is all over the face in fairness. Certainly no chance of consistency with that variance.
Oi! Adam Scott!!

Better?

That’s about 30 balls. If it’s not good enough for you, I quit!

Much better

Great stuff from McIlroy.

DeChambeau is certainly a strange one to watch, but I like that he's done it his way and doesn't have a text book swing. Good luck to him.

Why isn't it? Just because it's different. Give the lad a break!

Bubba Watson has about 12 wraps of tape on his grips as well.

What would you call that wooden looking swing?

Don’t get me wrong...I’m all for people doing things their own way, and Like I said before, it works well. I’d rather watch Seve or an Arnold Palmer type player than BDC.

He’s won already and will win plenty more I’d imagine. Good luck to him.

I quite like BDC, and his swing is not that much different to the other players on tour.

I think its only good for the sport to these variations. Not everyone has to swing it like Rory, or hit it like Dustin.

Apparently Faxon gave Rory some putting advice last weekend. It certainly paid off at Bay Hill. Long time since Rors lead putting stats.

It's smooth, quick and effortless. He's tailored his swing and equipment to optimize what he can do rather than knuckle drag his way frustratingly to a traditional textbook swing.

I still can't fathom how Matsuyama manages to do so well. He practically has a nap at the top of his backswing but it clearly does wonders for him personally.

They're all different and I enjoy watching Golf all the more for it.

Folks, am wanting to pick up a new shaft to try in my driver (Nike Vapor Fly) - it's currently fitted with a Blueboard 60S which I am finding a bit too "spinny" after the Kuro Kage 60X in my old Covert. Due to Nike no longer making clubs fitting appears to be a bit of a challenge, so I am purchasing blind off ebay and seeing how it goes. Two have jumped out at me:

Fujikara Speeder 757 Evolution - X Stiff

Matrix Black Tie 6M3 Stiff or X-Stiff

Both are under £100 and available with the Nike adapter already fitted.

Given that during my last fitting (albeit in 2013 when I bought my Covert) I was right in between Stiff and Xtra Stiff, with a SS of about 105 mph, whats everyone's thought on the above?

Looks like I can get the standard 757 Speeder in X Flex and the 661 Speeder in S also.

Also, all the shafts I am looking at are 44 inches, is that correct for a driver?

The black Tie is a very good shaft, plays pretty firm to flex.
Don't like any of the speeder shafts, always feel really dull.

at 105 you could fit happily into stiff, but it all depends how you load. Smooth and stiff will be okay, Build speed late and X may be the way to go.

44" will be correct, once installed you'd be looking at 45.5" there abouts.

I would be reluctant to go X with that SS.

This ties in with my experience - the Blueboard seems fine if I take it smooth, almost to the extent of taking a Hideki style nap at the top of my backswing, but if I try to go after it I either get a massive slice or a duck hook trying to prevent that.

I had the same issue with the Blueboard in my Covert, swapped it for an Extra Stiff Kuro Kage and it was transformed, straightest driver I've ever used. In fact if it was a bit more forgiving on toe end strikes, I would probably still be using it....

Anyway, in true Club ho style I have ordered both smile The X Flex Speeder and a Stiff Flex Black Tie. Speeder will be here tomorrow, Black Tie next week, then much tinkering will be done at the driving range.

I have just reshafted my driver and hybrid to match my 5 wood. All woods now have Rogue 110 Silver X now. Love the shaft.
Just put a C-taper Lite X into my driving iron too after experimenting with a graphite shaft for a few rounds. It removed all feel from it and lost loads of yardage with it too. Messed the top end of my bag up.

I **might** finally be able to pick up a club again. Been out of action since last summer due to a knee injury. Haven't even looked at my clubs in about 6 months. Saturday might see my return. No snow permitting. Fully expect to have a hat full & be in pain for most of the round but i'm itching to get back out! Also, who else was thrown off by the match play starting yesterday? I now feel like it's Friday!

Guilty here too. I completely forgot to look for it on Tv last night.

Would anyone be able to recommend a decent swing coach in the West London, Berkshireish area?
I see some excellent ones on youtube that use a lot of modern technology and seem to know what they are on about but they all seem to be a long way away.
