The muppet is someone who brings Brexit into a golf thread.

Just an interloper methinks, more vulgarly referred to as a troll. wink

Yes a worthy Champion Golfer of 2018.

I was there all day and sadly some right idiots started coming out of the woodwork towards the later part of the day. I suspect the beer and sun was too much for some people.

I’m always amazed so many will fork out a fortune on tickets to just sit by a big screen away from the action and drink themselves stupid before stumbling on the nearest couple of holes when the last few groups go out. Away on the far side like the 9th there were a great bunch of fans as it was a bit too far to walk for the idiots.

Anyway, small number of plonkers aside it was a great day and pretty windy making things tough from the tee. I’m pleased with the result and to see Woods back in some sort of form, happily the initial USA leaderboard takeover amounted to nil and we got a worthy winner. The standard of play again this year was superb and any thoughts I have of one day being a decent ball striker are put to bed when you watch these lot up close.

Traffic in and out was easy and the whole thing well organised again, roll on NI next year.

The shout in Woods backswing on the 18th was a disgrace, corporate idiot apparently who got ejected.
Sounded like a yank though ? Or someone pretending to be one .

I find the “in the hole” thing utterly pathetic. Invariably in an American accent (is it generally a Satetside thing?), it’s inane and distracting. Yeah, because off the tee the guy’s going to sink it in one on a 400+ yard hole rolleyes.

Other than these idiots, it was great golf in glorious conditions.

In fairness, Speith nearly did on the 1st on day three !!

Therefore we should shout "get in the hole" just in case?

I recall that during the US Open some of the idiots in the crowd realised that they were being picked up on the TV microphones and proceeded to broadcast incredibly witty retorts and comments (their perspective)...

Having watched a lot of golf on TV (both US/Euro PGA tours), its most certainly an American thing. Sure you hear it on the Euro tour once in a while but nowhere near to the same extent as that on the US tour. I think its good under certain circumstances but not when the Pro hits a driver off the tee on a par 5 and all you hear is "get in the hole" (as others have said). These guys are not golfers or fans of golf as they have no idea what they are shouting about.

Good to see Pro's, like Spieth, having a bad day with the flat stick. Makes me feel better about my own woes with said club

Having so many players in contention and then out of contention and then back in made it a great last day and as always a worthy winner.
Having not been a fan of Woods in his pomp I found myself willing him to do well and he as so close just a bad shot or two.
Maybe not a classic Open but very enjoyable
