What are those 'tabs'? sticking up out of Tiger Woods collar at the back?
Kinesio Tape. He strained his neck on Wed or Thursday.
Since posting that, I have made some enquiries.

Wikipedia says 'found no convincing scientific evidence that it provides any demonstrable benefit in excess of a placebo'.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elastic_therapeutic_...

Is it rather like those tapes that a lot of athletes wore on their nostrils a few years ago?

Just like many things in professional sport, and golf in particular, strength is in the mind and as long as athletes believe what they are being told about these methods they will perform better because of it.

Anyone recommend a decent club fitting centre in the South West (Exeter or Bristol areas)? I fancy the new Taylormade P790's and want someone who can give proper advice on shafts to suit my swing, currently play with stiff steel but I'm not as young as I used to be and want good advice. Just to add, not ready for graphite just yet, h'cap 8.

Dan Hendrickson at Torquay? I’m gonna go to him for a new putter I think.

Had a look at the website and there's nothing to go on in terms of club fitting, I will give him a call but be interested to know why you recommend him.

Probably saw him on youtube. Not sure he's a club fitter is he although it does say on the Torquay Club site that the shop does fitting.

He's head pro and does fitting as far as I can tell, seems to know what he is doing on Youtube. Come to think of it now, I am not sure they stock TM stuff. Worth a call though

After a little more digging I am going to visit Mike Hawton at Fingle Glen, he calls himself the South West Golf Guru at www.southwestgolfguru.com
I will let you know how I get on, he certainly talks a good story and if you're in the market for new equipment may be worth a shout.

Strange round of golf for me yesterday. Normally, my outward nine is worse than my inward nine, but yesterday was the opposite. +3 after the outward nine, +8 on the inward nine: +11 for the round (Par 72).

I was over the moon with the outward nine (best ever score) and this was probably the reason i.e. over confident of / too relaxed as I normally play the inward nine better.

Oh well, thats golf - must try harder and stay focused for all 18 holes.

Was also notified that after my recent good scores, I have been cut to 11 handicap.

We are perhaps of the same age (I'm 72) and have played off single figures for nearly 50 years, currently 6. I changed my clubs from stiff steel to regular steel but am afraid I made a mistake. Like you, I grew up in a time when graphite shafts were pretty useless and more like a hosepipe than a shaft, but now they are immeasurably better, so I have since tried other clubs with standard graphite and immediately found an improvement in the feel and the distance. Each to their own, and I understand how you feel, but I would try to approach the subject with an open mind. I am paying for the mistake you might be making. Best of luck.

Thanks Lowdrag, you've got about 20 years on me and 2 shots less!!! Impressed that you can play to 6 into your 70's and I understand your point about graphite, but distance isn't the issue at the moment and I'd rather stick with steel until it's obvious I need more yardage. I think that a lighter stiff shaft may be the way to go but will see what the Guru in the South West makes of my swing and will report back for anyone who may be interested.

Appears we are of the same age (53 here) so would be very interested in what the guru says. I am playing with stiff steel shafts.

I suspect his PR Company came up with a way to make us all forget about that putt in the US Open smile

And/or his churlish criticism of Tom Watson after USA lost Ryder Cup in 2014. He went down hugely in my estimation after this and his recent putting debacle.

A bit corny no doubt, but I’d take Mickelson above Woods all day long. Just watching the golf on tv now, coverage of Woods playing a shot and as he walks off he gobs on the floor for no reason. It’s disgusting, the bloke is a no class scrote and the sooner his back gives up again and he fks off for a bit, the better!!

Why is women's golf seemingly dominated by players from The Far East when the men's game is so Western-oriented?
