All done. It's a drubbing and no mistake.
The Elephant in the room is that we got a drubbing over there. We got a drubbing against the Aussies over there. The big problem with test match cricket is not whether it should be 4 days but why when going abroad teams fold.

Jimmy Anderson just did his best ever bowling over two innings and still did not win man of the match, well deserved Chris Woakes, perfect timing to get that score and relieve the pressure.

Jimmy only 10 behind McGrath now for most wickets for a fast bowler....

Cue the jaws movie tune......

Great effort, effectively a three day test.

Not surprised we batted this morning. It’s a very compact series, and grinding their bowlers was not the worst idea. Regardless of weather.

India’s selection was really poor, but they had the worst of the conditions.

And don't we need it. In three innings so far, our top 4 batsmen have only scored more than 30 twice.
Seems Cook is Teflon coated. I'd certainly drop him for a while.
So would I.

I play cricket for an Asian team.

The WhatsApp group has gone from them telling me how India and King Kohli will destroy this weak England team , to every man in the group wanting Kohli’s head smile

It has been great to just sit and watch, casting the odd piece of bait to them.

All great friends so it’s lighthearted banter, but they are distraught

Cook's all about stats. Always has been.
As soon as that Test average dips below 45, he'll retire from this form of cricket.

If he was all about stats wouldn't he quit before his average dropped not after?

The captain isn't worried by the form of the top order, but would he be saying that if we were playing the same and losing?

"I know there's a huge amount of ability in our top five, so it's not a worry for me."

Will the ECB leave it at that then?

They've already "punished" him when he was first arrested, I aren't sure what else they could do? He has been found not guilty of a crime. To punish him further would be wholly unfair.

He’s not guilty of affray.

He’s clearly fighting in the streets. hehe

Presumably they could ban him from the side for ever if they want to.

It does make you wonder what you have to do to be guilty.

Hope he learns a lesson and gets his head down as he is great to watch.

I assume he wont be picked for Saturday (yes, a test starts on a Saturday...) and will be rested for this test as it would be hugely unfair to drop someone. unless he can open

As he has been found not guilty of affray, then the jury must have believed that he was acting in self defence. So while yes, fighting in the streets, it was in the eyes of the law, self defence.

However, the ECB could say that he has brought the game into disrepute I guess. I expect that he may miss the rest of the India series as the worst case scenario.

He played in the first Test against India when he was still awaiting his trial, so why would they punish him further now? Not guilty means not guilty. If they thought thought there was some 'disrepute' then surely he wouldn't have been selected to play at all since his arrest?

They've already announced the squad for Saturday, and he's not in it, but that was because the trial was still ongoing at the time and they couldn't be sure that he would be available. There's no reason that he won't be available for selection for the last two Tests.

Interesting.

Woakes hits a century (not out) and takes some key wickets.... Curran looks the business and again is on a hot streak for wickets, Jimmy A and Broad are sacred, and took 14 wickets between them in the last test....

Pope - can't drop him its cruel. So who comes out ? Hales ? Stokes only makes sense as a bowler, he is a bit 1 in 20 with the bat these days. (Stokes, he has all gone a bit Alistair Cook with the bat)

So who do you drop

Not really. Legal bloke on the telly said it might just mean there was no risk to those other than the two fighting.

He’s certainly been in a drunken punch up in the street. Does that bring the sport into disrepute? Do they want their players doing that or don’t they mind too much as long as no laws are broken?
