You called this one right to be fair. This year there seemed to be a clutch of April Fool "jokes" which were far from amusing or witty. This was one of those.

That's a fair point.

It shouldn't be, but it is unfortunately.

That is because he is convinced he is better than he is.

Throughout his whole career he has continually convinced himself of a 'not my fault' reason behind any incident that shows he is below world class level.

For example his view against Canelo is that he was boxing great and then was unlucky to get hit by a shot. The truth is that Canelo spent a few rounds sizing him up and worked him out, then Canelo used superior boxing skill (footwork) to close him down and setup the KO.

Always great to watch his fights, has a lot of heart and fast hands but ultimately will always lose against the top level.

Poor bloke has dreams of being p4p king but his defence is not good enough to protect his chin and brain not good enough to adapt.

At his age and experience level, he shouldn't need a coach to tell him how to train and beat the likes of Vargas.

Good interview with Amir Khan on boxnation this week, always found him a grounded, decent fella, sure he has had problems in and out the ring, but what an exciting fighter, win or lose he gives his all. Wish him all the best in Crawford fight.

Well that is clearly not true as Khan has stated that he struggles to motivate himself against opponents who are not big names wink

Andre Ward commented on this with disbelief, he said along the lines of "No matter who my opponent was, I trained the same, I fought the same. This guy was coming for what I had and he was not going to get it".

And thats why Ward and his calibre are a dfferent breed.

Wish Khan all the best in the fight but not betting on him!

EDIT:Found that vid - See Wards disgust here hehehttps://youtu.be/alaL1K_7l_o?t=134

Fair point, I suppose I was utilising a selective memory there! I just like the way the guy fights, would love to see him pull off a shock but I have Crawford and loma as two best pound for pound in the world. Khan is head and shoulders the best fighter Crawford has fought though...

Thats what I said when Spence was announced against Brook hehe and learnt my lesson. From then on, when fighters/pundits I think highly of all unanimously agree on someone I am in!!

Virgil has said that whilst Khan has faster combinations, he thinks Crawford has faster one or two punch speed so not full of hope for him. Plus on US Soil so judges will always be against him if goes to a close points decision.

That's a good interview Andre Ward and I completely agree with his perspective.

But answer me this - if you were going to be interviewed about a topic you were passionate about, do you think you would have bothered to remove your damn headphones....

I remember that interview when it came out, and I couldn't understand why someone so erudite could sit there with a pair of headphones dangling from his ears.

hehe I wondered that too, imagine he was waiting around for interview to start and forgot to take them off.

Any Londoners wanting to do something on this Friday lunchtime - Mathroom's live workout at old spitafields market 12-2 (Benn, Cordina, Allen, Chisora, BrowneKelly) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D3tLi_HW4AAB3OT.jpg

Tempted to go, but as Haye is part of promoting I could end up asking him why he fought and took peoples when he was clearly crippled, twice ranting

The Lomachenko train keeps on rolling!

Got to feel for Anthony. Ref should have just stopped it in the 3rd.

They are talking Mikey Garcia, but that would be better if happened after Mikey had taken a couple of fights first to recover mentally.

And Garcia may prefer 140, and Lomachenko won't go above 135 as his natural weight class is 130.

Looking at the 135 and 130 rankings, I don't see anyone who wouldn't be considered an underdog.

And likes of Tank Davis will avoid Lomachenko for years probably, under Mayweather.

Well, that was a bit one-sided!

I’m no expert but WTF was the ref doing letting Corolla come out for the fourth round?

I've got no problem with what the ref did in the third, I'd like to see more standing 8 counts in the pro game, I don't understand why they're not used more. Starting the count at the knock out was a bit hopeful though.

Lomo is an amazing talent, possibly the best ever.

Totally agree. I spend as long watching his amazing footwork as I do his hands.

Yes, I agree. Forcing a count prevents premature stoppages, it gives the boxer a chance to regroup, and the ref can still then decide if the boxer is in the right condition to continue.

Was super to watch Loma's clinical skills again this morning. The way he uses feints and low power shots to position his opponent's body and their guard, to then unleash his power shots to the part of the body which has been exposed is boxing of the highest order.

His variety of shots and the way he sometimes will throw two or three of the same shots in quick succession left Crolla bamboozled.

And his defensive reflexes and footwork is also excellent.

I personally don't think we will see Tank go near Loma, until they think Loma is getting old. Tank has great power which would likely get Loma's respect, but eventually, he would get outboxed.

Fair enough - you know far more about the sport than I do.
