Its what AJ said, video here: https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1100071007958...
Would be interesting if TalkSport or another professional journalist asks Joshua about Whyte's accusation he is taking advantage of TUEs....What's the betting no one dares ask him....

Aye, EH has a lot to do with the current mess.
I seem to recall Whyte claiming that when he was offered the fight, with the standard rematch clause, if he was the champion, AJ would still receive a 60% share of the purse.
I could be wrong but I believe Whyte was happy about the deal generally but it was the rematch clause that killed the deal. I seem to recall Whyte claiming that when he was offered the fight, with the standard rematch clause, if he was the champion, AJ would still receive a 60% share of the purse.
Looks like Joshua won't be facing Ortiz..

It’s a no go for June 1 ..Sorry guys we were told to stay as quiet as possible and play possum until fight had been made because every-time someone called Luis out it would be a gimmick to promote them self but it still didn’t work .. we just received news from promoter that it’s a no go and it was all a gimmick and Hearns low ball offers will not be accepted and no contract even ever got sent so sorry to all the loyal fans .. Luis really wanted this title shot ...
well...i hope my sneaky feeling was right....andy ruiz jr seems to now be front runner. better fight than miller if i'm honest. he has come on leaps and bounds since that razor tight fight against parker a few years back....for those that didn't watch it check out how he dismantled dimitrenko on saturday night on the garcia undercard(another great fight which doesn't seem to have caused much comment in this thread)...
he could cause joshua a few problems with his incredible hand speed and head movement

Took a quick look at his wiki. It will be hard for anyone at 6'2" and 74" reach to beat AJ.
He is shorter and less reach than Ortiz. Yes he battered Dimitrenko, but D had also lost his prior fight against Jennings.
He is younger than Ortiz (who isn't ) but would I be right in saying it is an easier fight than Ortiz?
Will this get anyone subscribing to Dazn, or waking up to watch on Sky ppv. Joshua gets his £25m though.

Honestly, I think hes underrated because hes a fat bd. I've been keeping an eye on him for a while and he's good at closing distance and getting inside long jabs... I'm not saying he's povetkin but solves the problems in front of him in a ai.ilar fashion... fast hands and perpetual head movement... I would say at this point he would beat both Miller and ortiz...hope he gets the shot because he will have his moments...
Depends how low the lowball offer was
I can't remember a time when the heavyweight champion has struggled to get a half decent opponent over such a long period. Having Wilder and now Fury in the mix isn't helping but it's either 1) he's so good nobody will have a go or 2) they are too greedy with the offers.
Shane really add the division would be interesting* if they actually made the fights

- And to qualify I think there are good match-ups to made rather than great fighters. I still think the quality is low.
Based o na quick google search Miller was reportedly taking $4.8m, Ortiz reportedly only got $500,000 for the wilder fight so even a lowball compared to Miller would top his career earnings.
lets face it, Ortiz loses and its game over at the top level, he needs a payday that reflects that. He could well be in a similar position to Miller on PED's and just not be in a safe position to commit to anything.
You can guarantee there will be heavy testing for whoever does get the fight.

Is anyone halfway decent going to be ready to fight in 4 weeks, or is it a case of everyone is really in a full time camp and they just need tuning up for the big day?
I thought fighters basically locked themselves away for 8-12 weeks before a big title fight?
Yes, but if money was right they would.I thought fighters basically locked themselves away for 8-12 weeks before a big title fight?
6 weeks to go so could be worse, but problem is that promoters often leave an offer to the last minute intentionaly so the opponent is least prepared as they can be.
Ortiz last fought last month, and Ruiz only last week so they would be in decent shape already. Someone who hasn't fought a while would need all the undetectable ped's they could get their hands on

Now that is a fight to look forward to!For a British title fight, the money can't be that great. If Joyce loses, he suddenly moves down to the level fighting Dave Allen or David Price. If he wins, he doesn't really do much for his prospects of getting a big payday by fighting one the big names.
If I were him, I'd be keeping my powder dry and waiting for a much bigger opportunity to arise. So I must be missing something, but I can't see it happening.
