GGG v Canelo rematches were/are fine because they are the main men in the division (and there has been disgraceful judging).

These heavyweight ones are just bks.

Get well soon Usyk and then shake up the division.

wilder/ortiz 2 has been announced ...... meh......
Why meh? Ortiz came to win last time, and could have had him. A rematch is deserved? And good of Wilder to have the balls to do this.
Probably because almost the entire boxing fan base is calling for Wilder and Joshua to fight yet he takes a rematch with Ortiz and has said he wants to fight Kownacki after. It would be nice if he reached down and found his balls as he actually stands a chance of beating Joshua.

Anyway, Pacquiao beats Thurman unless he finally shows his age. He punch selection, stamina, speed, movement and power are all superior to Thurman's. Assuming he does beat Thurman, I don't fancy his chances against Spence or Crawford though.

Ruiz will pose a few problems for Joshua in the first few rounds. He has great handspeed and is fairly good at slipping punches and getting inside against a taller fighter who is throwing punches. I expect AJ will get clipped a few times before properly working behind his jab and taking Ruiz apart.

smile Brilliant. So Fury has been offered what he wanted, hope he doesn't weasel out now.
we shall see!
I actually feel sorry for Whyte in this situation. He has been the WBC mandatory for sometime now but has just sat on the sidelines. I think it was stupid of him to turn down AJ's fight offer but I get where he's coming from. He wants that WBC belt which gives him bargaining powers over AJ.

Instead he'll now have to fight a tough fight against Rivas and then face Fury who outside of landing a big shot will beaten quite soundly by Fury.

Tired of rematches being framed as exciting when they are really only being used to duck the main rivals.
Its public knowledge that the three aren't going to fight each other this year, all we can do as fans is not pay into their pockets.

I won't watch the Fury fight, who cares. Will watch the AJ fight next day free on YouTube with ( adblocker hehe ) and wilder fight will prob be free on ITV.

Don't pay and it will push them to fight earlier.

Problem is that a large amount of fans will- Tusc sounds like he will be paying up for the AJ fight so blame him wink

What a joke the heavyweight division is. I honestly thought 2019 would be a big year but it’s the same old st. Wilder has to be one of the worst champions IMO.

So help an idiot out here......why would Whyte agree to that, even if Fury wanted the fight? He is already WBC Mandatory isn’t he? What would he gain from fighting for something that is already his?

And why haven’t the WBC insisted that Wilder fight him next?

Obviously, the answer to the second question is money but shouldn’t the WBC strip Wilder if he doesn’t fight the mandatory challenger within ‘n’ months?

Clearly the answer to that is politics (and probably money) but surely something needs to be done by the various associations to stop people side-stepping each other?

Or am I being too simplistic?

This is the bit that riles me the most. Boxers get themselves into the mandatory positions for nothing.

The answer is that Whyte isn't the WBC mandatory. He is maybe ranked No 1 by the WBC but that doesn't equal mandatory status.

As to why he would take the opportunity; he would earn a shed load of money. He would lose to Fury of course, in the same way he would lose to Joshua. But he would become an even richer person, so it isn't all bad.

Whyte is a dangerous match up for Fury imo. He's still heavy favourite but it ain't a gimme. Whyte has been seriously impressive recently, he's got a chance against anyone and that's why nobody will fight him

I've got to disagree. I mean, of course Whyte is a big lump and so has a chance. And he is much improved.

But, we only have to look at the two Whyte vs Chisora fights to see him going life and death with an aged Chisora. And if we look to the second Fury vs Chisora fight it was almost a mismatch in the later rounds. I'd put Fury at more than 5:1 for the win vs Whyte.

Wilder only just fought his designated mandatory, so now doesn't need to fight the next for x months. And at the point this expires, Wilder will probably fight Fury anyway, which the WBC won't stand in the way of.

Whyte would agree to fight Fury, as he will believe he can win. Plus Fury is a huge name.

And there aren't that many credible opponents available at heavyweight level that will sell out the o2.
