I thought Whyte looked in good shape and gave an impressive performance.

I don't agree with the pundits though that Whyte and Fury would be a good contest - I think a Whyte /Wilder fight would be far more entertaining.
I dont!

Whyte's boxing is his ability to take punches, that's his style. Essentially a punchbag who punches back. Wilder would keep him at range and just smash him with the right hand. If not one, two or three punches but one of then is going to do the job.

A better fight would be Ruiz because Ruiz would have to get in close, use his fast hands and avoid being clubbed by Whyte.

Whyte is mandatory now for Wilder. I know this is heavyweight boxing but it has to happen for Whyte now.

Bought and watched Whyte v Rivas last night, I thought Rivas was going to steal it by stoppage late on. Is the undercard worth me going back to watch from the start?

Chisora was, and Azzeez was good too.

What can you say. Calling him a legend is simply not enough. I hope he retires now even though he said he’ll fight next year.

Well done Manny, I genuinely thought Thurman would win this comfortably. A thought for big Dave Allen, taken to hospital after the price fight, can't underestimate the detrimental effects of operating at the end of a thudding powerful jab for ten rounds. Big shout for big pricey though, OK Allen is limited but he boxed to a game plan perfectly, would love to see the big man win a portion of the big prize before he hangs them up...

I think his age caught up after round 7 slightly but wow what a performance. Thurman left nothing in the ring last night and hes a quality opponent too.

Hail the legend!! My hero Manny!

Bit of perspective. Whyte has found his level. It is just below that of the top heavyweights. He went life and death with chisora, twice, had a hard fight (disputed) with Parker, and has now been on his arse against Rivas. Fury would play with him, wilder would starch him and if Joshua's head is straight, he would stop him again. I really like whyte but he is a hard working, exciting, TV friendly heavyweight at best, but a shop worn, sloppy, wide open, fragile contender at worst.

Having said that, I do think he deserves a crack/big pay day against one of the big three. He'd probably lose but plenty of lesser fighters have had title shots in recent history.

Just watched the Manny fight.

Think he was fighting Thurman, but the opponent as wearing some kinda skirt so not sure hehe

Manny took a lot of punishment, great performance, but should use this fight to retire. Been a long while since he had KO'd anyone I think, and 12 rounds of his style of boxing isn't a good idea at his age. Guessing Manny will take on winner of Spence Porter now?

Thurman will have learnt a lot, and that body-shot in the 10th and his fear afterwards should be a motivator to keep learning, The fight cleared up questions of his health after the operations though, so should be around and active for a good few years. Came out of that with credit, and will remain a big name. Who will he take on next I wonder, one of the top guys?

A lot of talk about Thurman losing his power after the elbow op though...

Manny v Thurman highlights

https://youtu.be/eTZcQFYiIcY

Despite the early knockdown I don’t think Thurman gave a bad account of himself. Manny was looking a little fatigued towards the latter rounds which is understandable considering his almost 41...I hope he calls it a day now. I don’t want to see him get KO’ed or lose badly to the likes of Spence.

I agree 100%, guy is more deserving than most to get a crack at the big prize, and heavyweight boxing being heavyweight boxing, Will probably prove me wrong and win it!!

i was THIS CLOSE myself but a load of gigs recently has had the missus clip my wings for this one... 600 quid for ringside to see one of the best to ever lace them up is an absolute bargain in my eyes!!

Yeah il be in the arena early so will get my moneys worth, I generally tend to take a pair of gloves or replica belt to get signed too so makes the extra spend on ringside tickets more worth it then too. Hopefully get to the weigh-in too will try my best to get close to Loma but it’s never that easy with big stars like him.

Went to see rigondeaux in Cardiff a few years ago and that was only £200 so bargain when there were a lot of welsh lads fighting that night too.

So it appears Whyte's A-sample came back as testing positive on July 17, three days before his fight with Rivas.

Not a surprise, and not the first time for Whyte. We will of course need to know the results of the B-sample before reaching a firm opinion. But doesn't look good for either Whyte or Matchroom if they are shown to be hypocrites.

ETA just as an aside, I was watching back over Price's win over Allen. Whist I had picked Price to win, his stamina was much improved over his last few fights. Maybe it was down to Allen not landing enough clean shots, maybe it was Price's confidence in his true level of skill, or maybe he had decided "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em"....
